PLASTIQUE PROMISES
Here we are, standing on the cliff of ’07 poised to hurtle down into ‘o8. Just like any other year except for some upcoming events that the majority of Americans have just begun to think about.
Not that it matters, since they have long allowed the corporate media to do their thinking and deciding for them; a media that has set our entire Primary campaign up as a war to the death. Reporters no longer report, they incite and “control the message”.
Although there are serious, hard working participants, many young people are attracted to political campaigns like flies are attracted to horse manure. Those who avow support for the compromise candidate are the loudest and most opposed to compromise. They love the thrill of the campaign and are moved by rhetoric.
It’s fun, it gets them college credits, out of humdrum jobs and next to “important people”. Sex 101 is nearly mandatory and always traditional on these campaigns. We still hear the stories told by the Howard Dean “Take Back America” crews. They could fuel another “West Wing” TV drama.
Many of the young campaign workers are seldom seen or heard for four years but emerge like Mayflies for Primaries. The media loves them because those campaign workers feed its insatiable appetite from everything from the mundane to spicy photoshopped slanders.
But the really true love of the media always was and still is the polls. They are so in love that many of the networks and cable sponsor their own polls. Media uses polls to persuade, incite and confuse because by their very nature, polls are unreliable and are easily manipulated.
No matter what the batting average of a certain poll over the years, there is nothing sure in their prognostications. When they appear to be successful it is mostly because media misrepresentation influences the vote. Media depends on the old adage, “everyone wants to vote for the winner”, and so it tells you who the winner will be.
It is the media’s manipulation of the polls that largely determines how areas of the country will vote. Fascism has already come in with the cross wrapped in the flag, but the real downfall of democracy will come because the press has completely abrogated its responsibilities.
Until then, there are a few struggling reporters that investigate and report but most just hands us plastique promises and laugh when they blow up in our faces.
"I suggested we put the vice president on 'Meet the Press,' which was a tactic we often used. It's our best format," as it allows us to "control the message" -- Cheney media aide Cathie Martin, under oath at the Libby trial, making clear how well Russert fulfills his function.

MEN DO GET WEARY
GenderGappers 2007 – 052
MEN DO GET WEARY
Just like women do, but it is acceptable, even laudable if a man looks tired. But if a woman does not always look attractive and perky, she is maligned whether she is famous, infamous or little known like the rest of us.
We see a tired woman with a schedule that would exhaust any one of us but we know she will keep it up, not only on the campaign but as president. Let her opponents slide easily along on their past and their gender; we know how it feels to be tired.
You’ll see nary a comment or even a picture of a tired male candidate. They are supposed to look the way they look. But the paparazzi have long dogged Hillary to get pictures they can sell to her opponents; as well as photoshopers for nasty things to run on You Tube.
There’s lots of joy in Media-Mudslinging-ville now that it has anointed Barack as the leader. The giggles and guffaws of males and fembots in the hallways and around the water coolers is because they think they “got the bitch”.
Got a picture showing her looking tired; sure that it would be all over the internet; sure that Drudge would feature it and the media would pick it up and Maureen Dowd would present it, and Limbaugh’s words in the NYTimes.
We know hardly anything about Barack’s past aside from what he has written about it, or how he plans to do the lofty things he promises but to the media he fits the primo qualifications.
He is always attractively pictured and not only has been coddled by the media which just laughs at his sexual and ageists slurs against his opponent but also is protected from the searching examinations given the other candidates. The discrimination isn’t just gender driven, it’s cultural and anatomical.
Competent journalists like Mark Halperin and Howard Kurtz report that Clinton is under a harsher microscope by the media.
Paul Krugman recently wrote: “According to a recent survey by the Project for Excellence in Journalism, Mr. Obama’s coverage has been far more favorable than that of any other candidate.”
“Hillary is a woman. Get over it. You may like her views, her experience, her campaign tactics, or you may not. That's legitimate. That's political discourse. But to put up an unflattering photo of her on a well-read site like Drudge for the purpose of showing that she's looking tired -- what's the point? The point is an attack on women for not looking perfect.” – Matt Littman http://www.huffingtonpost.com/matt-littman/hillary-and-jennifer-love_b_77158.html
No nasty comments were made on Giuliani’s hour long laughter during a recent interview with Russert. Some might call it a nervous laugh. But those in the media who noted it at all called it, “A good natured laugh”.
In contrast, media led by Petrified Ball’s Matthews, constantly characterized Hillary’s laugh as a cackle. This is only one thing he does in his intense support of any MAN who might attack her and make her give up the race.
He constantly urged Barack to go negative on Hillary and cheered when he did. But when Hillary returned the favor in kind, Matthews became apoplectic with rage screaming that Hillary was trying to kill Barack in the cradle. He even called it “sudden infant death.”
Chris hates strong women so fiercely that when AARadio’s Rachel Maddow came on his program and didn’t present the prerequisite idiotic smile and say what he wanted her to say, he was furious and blurted out, “How can you say that! I’d like to waterboard you!”
Barack even got to see his personal attacks against Hillary made a part of a Repug anti-Hillary video – nice going for a guy who is sweet talking to screaming teenagers, hates the elderly and promises to bring all people together.
Yet media mavens and bloggers lament the fact that some prejudiced voters will not vote for a Black man as president and how unfair it is that even a few racial questions are reported about him. A favorite phrase they use is, “aren’t we a better country than that?”
They completely ignore the prevalent and constant prejudice against women and gladly amplify and glorify sexism in all its forms as a God-given right.
In the spirit of the season, is this the message you want to leave to your daughters - A story of three wise men, an all powerful King, his son and a baby-incubator? “Aren’t we a better country than that?”

FROM COMMANDER GUY TO LIFTER GUY?
GenderGappers 2007 – 051
FROM COMMANDER GUY TO LIFTER GUY?
As expected from the huge advanced hype, many in the media were carried away into hyperbole-land with Queen Oprah and her crown- prince-to- be, especially those pundits who share her cable channel. So they played parts of it over and over to make sure everyone got all the nasty political stingers that were poorly disguised in Oprah’s well scripted presentation.
Nasty bits because Oprah went to some lengths to say she wasn’t in it to be political – blah, blah, blah – she was just concerned for the plight of the country. Of course she was not telling anyone what to think as she proceeded to tell them what to think and why they should think it.
But there was a refreshing exception to this media swoon. “What happens when they find out Oprah isn’t running for president?” Trust Keith Olbermann to nail it.
That was mainstream cable and broadcast, but many AARadio hosts like Eddy Shultz lost themselves in adoration with pious rants. Along with several pundits and columnist, they bowed low before the throne that did not preside over the circus, but rather was the circus.
Inspiring, some wrote, just like an old-time gospel revival; where the talented pair spoke in the manner of the place they were in, getting much blacker for Carolina than Iowa. Can you say pandering?
All that was expected, but many of the blog comments showed something much different. Bloggers picked up on Oprah’s fervent avowal that she was speaking up because she was so concerned for the country and called her on it.
The recurring theme found on several blogs went similar to this one: “Where was Oprah for the last 7 years of atrocities by this administration? Where was she when the people needed to be informed of the truth, where were the riots in the streets at the outrage at the most corrupt administration in the history of the nation, where was she during all this?”
There were cooler, more thoughtful heads in the mainstream too who remarked that all those crowds came to see Oprah and that all Dems were not idiotic enough to transfer their admiration of her to Barack. Many still want to see how he can do what he claims.
Just how, they ask, does he propose to do all this “lifting up”. Will he employ the Phantastic 4 and other comic book super people who can lift anything they need to? Will he define where up is? Is it heaven or lower down? Hard to tell as he consistently claims that he will do the lifting-up and never speaks of using the Democratic process involving Congress.
To Oprah and Barack, polarization is a dirty word and he is going to lift us above it and unite the country. While agreeing that at times Barack may be eloquent and inspirational, Columnist Ellen Goodman writes in The Boston Globe:
“The Democratic nominee won’t have the luxury of a do-good campaign. Even a post-polarization candidate would face a polarized politics. There’s still a difference between being an icon of change and an agent of change. And there is a difference as well between being a fine philosopher king and a strong presidential challenger.”
It’s going to take a fighter, one with experience whose head is not in the clouds of Never-Never-Land to defeat the Republans. It is no time to send an inexperienced boy to do an incredibly competent woman’s work.

PLAYING TO THE PREJUDICE
GenderGappers 2007 – 50
PLAYING TO THE PREJUDICE
Norman Vincent Peale didn’t invent the concept; the origin of that is biblical and beyond. But he did write a book that reached millions of people all around the world, called “The Power of Positive Thinking”.
Dale Carnegie [“How to Win Friends and Influence People”] took it to the forum level, making millions by offering interactive seminars that eager businessmen flocked to. He was followed by many others as television opened the doors to the great unwashed and untapped millions looking for a power fix.
In short, bookshelves, television and radio are rife with advice about how you can succeed in anything as long as you positively believe that you will.
You are encouraged to set goals and believe absolutely that you will accomplish them. Now a word of warning – WOMEN are not allowed by our prejudiced society to announce this surety of one’s self to the world of people out there.
Robin Gerber, Senior faculty with the Gallup Organization writes in Newsday.com, “Dominance, authority and ambition are widely viewed as essential leadership characteristics - as long as you're a man. When Clinton displays this ‘masculine’ style, she loses the public trust.”
Gerber discusses the reasons why Hillary Clinton is being portrayed by Edwards and Obama as untrustworthy – it plays to societies prejudice against strong women:
“A study earlier this year by Catalyst, a nonprofit business research organization, showed the stark dilemma that competent women face. In "The Double-bind Dilemma for Women in Leadership," women were criticized for being "too aggressive and self-promoting," but men with similar styles were praised for being direct.” http://www.newsday.com/news/opinion/ny-opger045486775dec04,0,7259476.story
Those of us who discovered self-empowerment on our own will confirm the truth of how our society punishes women for exhibiting the same leadership styles men are expected to show.
Our society allows women to follow traditional paths to limited power. Some may gravitate to self-help advisors like Oprah who is celeb-driven. Some say she buys her audiences with new cars, but she also attracts by preaching success through religion and directed action. The “free” tickets to her appearances with Obama require one to pledge to vote for Obama. A vote buying scam that the media has not felt necessary to divulge.
Oprah and her disciples teach one to depend on someone to tell them what to do and think – directed by a God, doctor or some rock star. This use of crutches defeats the whole purpose of becoming empowered – making women take their traditional role of followers rather than leaders.
Self empowerment formula/advice cannot just be read, it must be internalized. There lies the rub. How does one teach how to internalize the information? We can only say that total understanding just suddenly comes like the turning on of the proverbial light bulb. We take responsibility for our actions and are empowered by this. As women, our conversion frightens those who dare not leave their long held gender prejudices. So they punish us by insisting that we are untrustworthy.
You may have noted that Bush and his Band of Botherbots continually say “Democrat Party”. They leave “ic” out when they should say Democratic. They have been told that the word Democratic gives too much power i.e. it brings all of the positive features and energy of a democracy together to label their opposition.
We can’t stop them from doing this but we can draw attention to it. Start calling and writing REPUBLAN/REPUBLANS – leave the IC out of their Party name. Use the power of these two little letters, say them out loud – IC – and soon you will - clearly.

TO WHOM IT SHOULD CONCERN
GenderGappers 2007 – 049
TO WHOM IT SHOULD CONCERN
Remember how, just a few years ago, Democrats/Liberals were united and determined to take our country back? Then something that was really great changed us to a nasty, back-biting mob – we gained the majority in Congress.
At first it was dancing in the streets, but soon the naysayers and critics took over. Without even a thought to learning how government is run, many Liberals began to criticize their Congressional majority for not stopping the Iraq war instantly and for not doing all the things these critics wanted them to.
While the Repugs in Congress stood together solidly, the Dems splintered, so even with a majority it was difficult to get anything done.
Remember, just because you have the majority does not mean you rule uncontested if you abide by the Constitution. True, Bush has adroitly circumvented laws and the Constitution but he has had the unwavering support of his Party’s supporters.
You get loyalty by being loyal. The Repugs have learned this and it’s time for the rank and file Dems to grow up and smell the votes. Activists that are doing most of the screaming must understand that Senator Lieberman, elected as a Dem but caucusing with Dems, is blackmailing the Senate. Its hands are tied else it loses its majority.
This is the lesson that Dems need to learn and be concerned about:
Why should their elected representative go out on a limb for them when just as soon as they fail or something else comes up from the baser of the base, they know they will be not only deserted but vilified?
So-called Liberal Talk Radio does little to educate the voters about how things work in a democratic government. Many of the hosts are adamantly against some of the Dem candidates while openly pimping for their favorite Liberal. In fact, Liberal Radio is doing exactly what it has consistently criticizes mainstream media for doing.
The mainstream media seldom mentions Kucinich, Biden, Richardson, Dodd or Edwards, concentrating on Hillary and Barack. Liberal talk show hosts and their callers are mostly using the Repug talking points to criticize Clinton. They ignore anything negative about Obama.
What many Liberals fail to realize is that the media is still run by the Republicans who are terrified of Hillary and know they can easily beat Barack who will be slaughtered in the debates by any Repug. Their fear of Hillary is so great that Karl Rove has surfaced to feed lines to her Democratic opponents and Liberal Talk Radio.
While ignoring most of the Dem candidates, mainstream media mavens scrutinize and criticize everything about Clinton, yet allow Obama to skate on his errors and inexperience. But in fairness, there are things about him that should not be ignored. For example:
The Democratic Underground and NY Times are two sources that have noted how Obama considers himself a modern day Joshua and infers that God “walks” with his campaign. If that doesn’t scare the hell out of Democrats, it should. Church and State are separate and should remain that way. Do we really want another president like Bush who claims God directs him?
And just try to find any coverage of how the Obama campaign pays off supporters in Primary States illegally. This is nearly totally ignored by the media and even most of the bloggers.
Now he is being played up mightily on both Liberal and Mainstream media because Oprah is coming to campaign for him. Will 0+0 = 0 or a halo? Will Oprah lift this self-appointed Joshua up to sainthood with the prayers of her vast audience? Whose side is God on in this contest? It is certainly not the voters who want separation of church and state.
Chris Matthews as we’ve mentioned before is dying for Giuliani to win and knows the G. can easily beat the O., so Chris is pulling out all stops to bring down Clinton while indulging in his latest man-crush, Obama.

WAR OF THE WORDS
Remember how Primary debates used to be handled? There were candidates on the stage who answered questions posed by a moderator. Never did a moderator join the debate. Her/his function was to keep order and ask questions.
It is so different this year as the Cable fat heads, swollen with ego, have entered the debate as de facto advisors, prompters and debaters. Before the debates, moderators of the next debate discuss the campaigns of the candidates with guest analyzers.
Then when the debate is in progress, the moderator may insert himself into the debate with stunning nastiness using his own opinions and script he wrote for his cable program. The idea is to incite a fight, entertain and provide lots of clips to run on the cable programs to hurt one candidate and build up another.
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews was first to enter into the debate he was supposed to be moderating but pulled back when the crowd voiced its disapproval. However he continued to script on his program what Obama and Edwards should do to hurt Clinton at the next debate. That one was moderated by Russert who asked questions of Clinton, many of which were based on lies or slanted to misinform.
Viewers from all walks of life were appalled by Russert’s actions as moderator, especially in the debate which took place in Philly with a Matthew’s-packed crowd that was clamoring for Clinton’s blood.
Chris was really pissed off at the criticism and “protested too much” and too often. He claimed that Russert acted the way a moderator should act. Then he further manipulated the debate in subsequent Hardball programs. Typically he played clips only of parts of Hillary’s responses without showing that the questions asked were different.
Following the Nevada debate, Matthews was livid. We’ve seen this side of him before whenever Hillary won. He declared that the moderator, Wolff Blitzer, had been co-opted with threats [even after Wolff denied it] and gave Hillary soft ball questions.
Matthews raged on, declaring that the crowd was fixed, the boos were programmed and the questions were all managed by the Clinton campaign. He showed himself to be the leader of the “Stop Hillary movement”.
In his head, a programmed anti-Hillary audience in Philly was OK but Hillary backers in the audience in Nevada was not. Likewise he often criticizes and complains about Hillary clapping her hands with never a word about the fact that nearly every shot of Barack show him clapping his hands.
He desperately needs Obama to win because O is sure to lose the general election. Chris’s candidate has always been Giuliani and he is terrified that Senator Clinton will win and he knows she can beat him.
He has constantly demonstrated his hatred of everything Clinton. He should be worried. A huge poll taken this week reported that 64% of Democrats believe that Hillary is the only candidate that can win against a Republican. Most realize that Rudy or any of the other Repug candidates would make mincemeat out of Obama in the presidential debates.
The media is becoming even more strident in managing this Primary by telling us lies and half truths. It focuses on anything it can blow up to make the candidates fight. Who will you believe? Them or your own evaluation made following perusal of the facts?
Now the media mavens are breathlessly telling us that Barack has the highest likeability of any of the Dem candidates. Seems that was one of the principal reasons why people voted for George Bush – we ask them: “How did that work out for you?”

COLLATERAL DAMAGE
GenderGappers 2007 – 047
COLLATERAL DAMAGE
This strike by the writers will surely deprive many of their TV entertainment as sitcoms and other shows like “24” fall by the wayside. No problem as most will just turn to movies or other shows on CDs.
But we must not forget those who will really suffer – the young, the unthinking or the stoned that depend on The Daily Show/Leno et al for their political information – they will be collateral damaged.
Of course some of the affected can satisfy their thirst for political humor just as other groupies do by following their candidate around wearing uniforms, yelling “Fire it up!”, “Let’s kick her ass!” and buying cute nutcrackers.
But for the comedy deprived masses, there is hope and we offer some of it here. If humor is your bag, just check out cable news. While at first glance you may not see anything very funny, the trick is to switch channels every two minutes and compare the similarities and discrepancies.
With a little practice you will find yourself making up Daily Show segments all by yourself. Then soon after you’ll be doing stand up routines for your friends that would be the envy of the late-night-talk.
This does take a bit of effort but it is well worth it. To get the hang of it start out with FOX and then click to CNN or NSNBC. You’ll be a pro before you know it and ROTFLYAO.
It’s really funny watching Tucker exhibit his abysmal ignorance or Wolff trying to show he isn’t biased or the multitude of monstrously bosomed FOX Twinkies solemnly reading opinions so obviously beyond their comprehension.
You may prefer reading the blogs, especially those that have illustrative pictures, but to really get the full flavor and fun, try a newspaper. This will be a real challenge if you have forgotten how words look that you learned in school since you got immersed in txt mes. Keep at it because it will come back to you and also most newspapers have a page of comics for mental relief and illustrated help for the harder words.
If you need more comedy fix, here’s a couple of screamers from Media Matters. They are sure to crack you up.
Matthews claimed "Clinton people ... trying to intimidate" Blitzer -- after Blitzer had denied itMSNBC's Hardball host Chris Matthews began his November 13 show by asserting that "the Clinton people" are "trying to intimidate" CNN host Wolf Blitzer, who is scheduled to moderate a November 15 Democratic presidential debate in Las Vegas. But less than an hour earlier, Blitzer had said on CNN's The Situation Room, "No one has pressured me. No one has threatened me. No one is trying to intimidate me. ... No one has even called me to try to pressure me or anything like that. ... I have not felt any pressure whatsoever." Later during the same edition of Hardball, Matthews referred to Blitzer's denial but misrepresented it. Read more
Wash. Post's Kurtz pointed out "liberal bloggers[']" criticism of Russert debate performance, but not Russert's faulty questionsWashington Post media critic Howard Kurtz wrote that NBC Washington bureau chief Tim Russert "was ripped by liberal bloggers" after "he repeatedly pressed Hillary Clinton during a presidential debate." GIVE 'EM HELL, HILLARY!
GenderGappers 2007 – 046
GIVE ‘EM HELL, HILLARY!
Never thought it would be true, but Hardball was a thrill to watch following the Philly debate. It was because Craig Crawford stood up to, and beat down Chris Matthews who claimed that “Hillary played the gender card” and he “had the sound-bite that proved it”.
Crawford insisted, even as Matthews typically tried to yell him down, that she did not play the gender card in that sound-bite. This forced Matthews to play it again and it was obvious that all Hillary said was that her college trained her to compete with the boys in the presidential race.
The people who called the debate a pile-on and gender driven were ALL OF US out here in the electorate who called, e-mailed or wrote to the Clinton campaign and NBC protesting Russert’s actions. It was the media that instigated a pile-on and misrepresented what happened afterwards by blaming their own press reports on the Clinton campaign.
Anyone who forms their opinion on anything reported by a media, that intentionally intends to run the race to make as much nasty news as possible, is brain dead.
The post debate game show put on by Obama himself is noteworthy only because the media amplified it without any of the critical comment it reserves for other Democratic candidates. Edward’s disingenuous ad showed Clinton giving somewhat different answers but did not include the questions that elicited those answers; the media ignored that.
Obama came out with a back slapping; “look what I did to Hillary” attitude that belied the fact that he had to be coached by one of the moderators. To paraphrase, he was carried to third base on the misleading attack questions by Russert, Edwards and Dodd and now he claims he hit a triple.
All he really demonstrated in that debate was how easily he is led from his declared path, showing that he is a follower, not a leader who can think and operate by himself.
When Barack declared that he had been piled-on because he was different in a former debate and did not protest, he and the ass kissing media failed to report that whereas he endured for around 15 minutes with NO black code words used against him; Hillary endured for 2 hours with plenty of gender code words used.
And following the debate, facing a barrage of gender code words that every woman recognizes having heard them so often; code words such as “you’re overreacting” and “taking this personally” from the media and fellow candidates.
In addition, Barack was not attacked by one of the moderators. Wonder what trick or misleading questions the media will dig up for the next debate and if the moderator will join in to coach Obama like Russert did.
Russert was characterized by the New York Times on October 31 as "arguably" Clinton's "third toughest opponent on the stage" during the October 30 debate
If the media disregards the facts brought forth by the archivist of President Bill Clinton’s papers and continues to claim Senator Clinton is hiding them, voters should get angry and insist that the truth of this situation be reported.
So much is made of Hillary’s votes yet Barack is not censored for missing three times as many votes as Hillary. Is avoiding voting Barack’s way of avoiding leadership or showing no courage of his convictions?
Governor Bill Richardson got it right in that debate when he described what the Times called “a withering attack”. He scolded the others. “You know what I’m hearing here, I’m hearing this holier-than-thou attitude toward Senator Clinton. It’s bothering me because it’s pretty close to personal attacks that we don’t need.”
The problem is it was just what the media ordered and orchestrated.

TESTOSTERONE RISING
GenderGappers 2007 – 045
TESTOSTERONE RISING
Just like most countries America has a macho culture despite the efforts to put perfume on the pig. This is clear right now in the run-up to each Party’s primaries, our history and the direction most of the media takes.
It’s all about winning and not about facts. We fight wars and equal rights with similar determination. Polls may show a large majority against the war but ask the question in terms of winning or losing and they hedge their bets – that is, they nuance.
Nuance has become the word du jour, serving all candidates by letting them say a lot without taking a firm stand. While at first blush this seems reprehensive in fact it is necessary. American media excels in “dammed if you do; dammed if you don’t politics”.
When a candidate actually makes a point of addressing the concerns of a particular voter, that reply is locked in, scanned for inconsistencies, related to former positions and mangled to the point that all clarity is lost.
Early on in this campaign, Maureen Dowd set the stage as a conflict between warrior and peacenik - Hillzilla vs Obambi. What? A male Bambi; a female Godzilla! This presents a classical conflict situation diametrically opposed to conventional wisdom – a puzzling dichotomy for many to get their heads around. Why?
We are so caught up in our deeply embedded stereotypes that we do not seek the cause of our gender prejudices. Consider why it is that a woman is elevated in rank and stature by marriage to a man above her in rank while a man is diminished in rank and stature when he marries “beneath him”. Or why a woman who marries a King becomes a Queen while a man who marries a Queen becomes a Prince.
The Dem’s testosterone rising fueled by hate and prejudice is clearly seen in the way the Netroots blasted their former hero blog, The DailyKos, because Kos recently wrote positively about Hillary Clinton.
The viciousness of their attack was clear. You either agree with us or we will destroy you. Does this remind you of anything? Anything like Bush claiming that any opposition to him or his way or his plans is treason and punishable? It’s bad enough that Bush and Republicans use scare tactics but must Dems emulate them?
The Democratic Philly debate this week produced another testosterone storm. For weeks Hardball Matthews has been calling for Barack and John to use Hillary as a punching bag. He actually gave them a script claiming that the only way they could stop her was to “bloody” her.
They were not very effective until one of the moderators, Tim Russert, acting as if he was one of the candidates, entered the debate. He initiated personal attacks against her and then called on Barack and John to follow his lead. Huffpost blog even put his picture in with the pummeling candidates of the debate – very effective.
These attacks coming at her all at once from several sides did unnerve her momentarily so that Matthews got what he was hoping for – lots of footage and soundbites.
Breitbart wrote, “And if those attacks were to bear fruit, it may be Democrats as a whole, desperate to reclaim the White House, who pay the price for Tuesday's debate next year.”
Repugs are estatic. They know the only Dem that can beat them is Hillary so they have insisted that she can’t be elected knowing that naive and gullible Dems like Obama and Edwards will echo their suggestion.
Overall, the media reaction ranged from claims that Hillary was rightfully challenged to opinions that the battering was negative and would not go down well in Iowa. In any event, the pig was de-perfumed; our misogynist underbelly culture emerged raw, unfurled and unmasked – Godbama’s manhood demanded that he kill Bambihill. In his primitive rage he forgot that he had pledged not to go negative.
We send kudos to Governor Richardson and Senator Biden for trying to stop the verbal assault when Russert instigated personal attacks and Edwards, Obama and Dodd followed his direction.
Both of these Senators strongly announced that the enemy was the Republicans and condemned their fellow candidate’s negative attacks. Where it is acceptable to challenge the leading candidate, personal smears and Swiftboating is not.

"WOMEN HOLD UP HALF THE SKY"
“WOMEN HOLD UP HALF THE SKY”
That proverb could be amended today to state – more than half. Metaphors aside, right now Peggy Whitson is in command of the International Space Station. Pamela Melroy commands the shuttle Discovery.
Melroy’s co-pilot, George Samka, who has never served with or for a woman said, “I understand it’s a wonderful thing for a young woman to see Pam flying but in terms of her, I look at her as an individual with some tremendous skills.”
As the evidence of women’s ability increases exponentially, it follows that the foaming at the mouth misogynists among us are actually helping Senator Hillary Clinton’s campaign by the sheer nastiness of their remarks.
Several times a week, Tucker Carlson goes ballistic over what he says he cannot understand ie why would women vote for a candidate just because she is a woman? “Gee,” he whines, “I never vote for a candidate just because, like me, he has a penis!” See? He thinks he is only his genitals. Earth to Tucker: “Be all that you can be.”
Mostly, he has males on as guests who are willing to pummel both Hillary and the women who admire her and would vote for her. Claiming that Barack never tries to get votes because he is an African-American, guest Cliff May asserted that Hillary is a Vaginal-American and seeks votes from women based on gender.
The all male panel laughed uproariously at that and protest mail came into MSNBC in truckloads, many comparing Carlson to Don Imus at his worst. But Carlson is only one of many sophomoric, sophmoronic, towel snappers who never mentally progressed beyond the high school locker room.
The report of an Imus comeback has the boyz thrilled to death. They could always depend on Imus to pillory Hillary and women in general with film and quotes they could embellish and play over and over.
They tumble all over each other to insist that Imus really did nothing wrong and anyway he apologized and has been punished long enough. These were the same ones that tut-tutted his blatantly sexist and racist labeling of a woman’s’ basketball team – at the time.
“POLITICO” reeks of misogynists of both genders as do many other so-called news sources. The M.O. is the same. They take a sentence out of some quote about Hillary and portray it as fact to their audience. It’s the old, “if you ain’t got the facts, make them up” game.
Wolff Blitzer and CNN spent most of the time reporting on the Republican debate by showing what they said about Hillary. Then parley this with advice to Barack that this was the kind of nasty stuff he should be saying about Hillary.
It is customary to go after the front runner but the media failed to do this in 2000. Bush skated while Kerry got berated. It is a mistake for anyone to think that our media reports the news when it is so obvious that they are actively engaged on creating and misrepresenting it.
Holding up more than their share of the sky has made women stronger and smarter. So the boyz shenanigans are backfiring on them. What they don’t seem to realize is that women internalize those hurtful remarks against Hillary. They feel the misogyny as surely as if it were directed at them – because it is.

FEAR! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
GenderGappers 2007 – 043
FEAR! WHAT IS IT GOOD FOR?
Absolutely everything.
In the early years of life there was the boogey man, bicycle helmets and seatbelts. For the adult, there is the constant drumbeat of screening for this or that disease - adverts for pills and potions that will help one’s survival at least until next week.
Fear can be a good thing when it protects us; it can be irrational as in fear of the number 13 or black cats but it is catastrophic when we allow government propaganda to make us mindless.
What is hard to understand is the all consuming fear of much of the country concerning terrorists and the Towers in NYC that makes hardened Conservatives believe Giuliani is the second coming.
Most New Yorkers don’t see him this way. He did his job those days but just as important was his record and overall conduct as mayor. To them the real heroes were the fire, rescue and police officers.
The Midwest bible-belters, despite their formerly stanch stand for values [their values] in a president, apparently have dropped their insistence on values. Giuliani’s multiple marriages, unfaithfulness, cross dressing, connections with the mob, support for abortion and flip flopping pale in importance because they see a strong man who will protect them.
Yeah, the guy who put the disaster response team in the WTC even after it had already been attacked; the guy who failed to properly outfit the city’s fire and police. What are these Repugs thinking?
But many Dems are no different. They live in fear. Despite having a great group of smart, informed and competent presidential candidates, some, scared out of their wits, are clamoring for Al Gore to run.
Let him alone to continue to do the great environmental work he has started. Our candidate must be free to address the massive amount of crap left by the Bushies, not hampered by one all consuming interest.
To win the presidency, our candidate has to be stronger, meaner, smarter and tougher than Giuliani. S/he must not be saddled with a country full of crybabies who need a daddy-pacifier.
No matter who wins in the Repug Primary, most every Repug will hold their nose and vote for him. Many Dems, on the other hand, will only vote if their own person is nominated. That’s why they lose so many elections – self imposed fear fueled by their hatred.
One thing is sure, when the next election approaches, Bush and the Repugs will come up with some really scary propaganda hoping to drive the voters, which will include some scared Dems and Indys, for the third time - to a safe Republican, white, Christian Daddy.
And how scary is 8 more years of strong man “Bring them on” Giuliani-bush? Why can’t Democrats grow the hell up?

MISOGYNY PROGENY
JmpjsGenderGappers 2007 – 042
MISOGYNY PROGENY
It’s OK, we’re hep to your game; after all we have been hearing the words for eons. We may pretend to ignore them but you’ve not fooled us, not for a minute. We know you by your words, misogynists.
You know, the code words, the ones used most often as adjectives: what is called passionate in a male is called “emotional” in a female; forceful becomes “shrill”. We’ve heard these and more during this campaign season.
This week brought two more, endlessly repeated. Whereas the male candidates “engaged in a heated discussion” with someone in the crowd; the female in the same situation was, “snippy” and “fishwife-y”.
Another oldie but nasty one is how a “hearty laugh” describing what the male sounded like becoming a “cackle” when a female laughed. Yes, bring it on. We still don’t like it but we are building immunity to the hurt of being constantly compared to barnyard animals.
And this we know. Whenever most women hear those code words pronounced with the accompanying shit-eating grin, there is born another vote for Senator Clinton. So keep it up, pinheads. Your ignorance is our bliss.
Interestingly, when a male laughs it is usually ignored completely or he is called good humored. Yet when the female laughs, each laugh is dissected with a mixture of backroom politics of the 1900’s and psycobabble of the 21st century.
Feminism has been made a nasty word by the media so most women do not speak of it. Some even dis the whole idea preferring to be seen as getting where they are without help from federal laws.
But all women know the words that are used to demean them in the marketplace and in business, and there are many women out there in the electorate of both Parties who have not yet decided who they will vote for.
Who are these misogynists [woman haters] that use these sexist words? Men? Not so much – the Repugs mostly send in women to do the dirty work. But their strategy does not work because American women have already experienced the fembots and queen bees that the white male establishment hides behind.
So bring on the code-speak; women are thinking for themselves and they vote.

PUNDICRACKERS IN MY SOUP
GenderGappers 2007 – 041
PUNDICRACKERS IN OUR SOUP
Yangon, Myanmar – A growing number of Myanmar’s largest city are shutting off the government-run nightly newscast to send the message that they are tired of listening to their propaganda. –AP
America’s royalty has to be the so-called journalists/pundits that we support and cosset. They form a group that can harass us at will for our sins and foibles yet seldom if ever have to face the same exposure of their own lives, number of marriages, bad acts of children or private peccadilloes.
With too few exceptions they share their power and temporary loyalty only with the highest bidder and give little thought to their own paucity of patriotism. To them money is right and might in every sense of the words.
Currently most of them major in causing fights between the presidential candidates. To do this they misquote, take out of context and outright lie about one candidate hoping to force an angry response from the opposing candidate that they can embellish into a counterattack.
With apologies to the animal, fantasy and slug kingdoms, the current crop reminds us of other creatures. Here are a few that come to mind; everyone can add your own to the zoo.
Who does not see a huge grinning toad when Tim Russet holds forth, stabbing an interviewee with malice from his long, probing tongue; and benignly tossing softballs to a privileged few?
Far from looking or being wolfish, Wolf Blitzer is the Cheshire Cat, whiskers and all. VP Cheney turned him into a purring blob of jello.
David Gregory is the wicked queen in Snow White. “Mirror, mirror on the wall who is the fairest of them all”, as he dances with wolves.
Chris Matthews resembles a slug infested weather vane that swings to favor the one with power and money, then changes quickly in response to shifting of news events. One minute he wants to impeach Bush; the next marry him.
Howard Fineman resembles a know-it-all, supercilious, holier-than-thou French Poodle. Always injecting his opinions as if they came from God but never recanting when he is frequently proven wrong.
Tucker Carlson is hardly worth the effort to tune in to. He is that annoying buzzing fly, attracted to sweets and putrefied cadavers alike.
At Fox News, there is no standout as they all read from the same script. We have to borrow and revise from Dr. Doolittle – specifically the Push Me Pull Me - for a description. Picture one giant rectum, the mouth they all speak out of, in the forefront connected to the tiny heads of all the pundits and news readers.
All of the above and many others are paid plenty from the profits of what we buy from their advertisers. They exist as gods, never admitting or apologizing for their mistakes or learning from them. They moved this country into war and kept it there until the stink of their complicity woke people up.
They lull us into complacency and acceptance of the status quo; they affect our daily lives, influence our very thoughts and critique everyone in the country but are never made to undergo any scrutiny or lose their jobs for their mistakes. And we stupidly continue to support them because they claim to be our watchdog over the government.

TWO FLIES AND A CELL
As global politics took the stage this week nothing could compare to the shtick produced in the presidential Primary campaigns already by inanimate objects.
There was the thunderous punctuation of an electrical storm, then a fly[s] admiringly explored the hair of Senators Biden and Dodd -- probably not the same fly but it was hard to tell.
Trust Rudy to try to top the flies by staging a lovey-dovey cell phone call from his wife to interrupt his talk to the gun folks. It seems he has turned this trick before. Maybe it will start a trend.
In the present lull between debates, retired army brass and brassy journalists got together on C-Span to discuss why the media failed to respond to the Iraq war they observed instead of what the Bush administration told them to report.
They all agreed that it was “distrust of each other” engendered during the Viet Nam war that was the cause. Although some mentioned that their editors gave some instruction about what they wanted covered, no one on the panel even eluded to the corporate influence on the editors or that there was such a thing.
Wouldn’t it just be great if these journalists were put up on a stage and we all got to ask them specific questions and that their answers would be published by honest journalist – if any could be found in this country?
True, they might lose their jobs or land in Gitmo if they told the truth, but just for once we would be spared the soul-sickening spectacle of reporters critiquing themselves, endlessly portraying themselves as blameless instead of gutless.
Who does not still see in their mind’s eye these reporters kissing-up to and laughing at jokes from Rummy, the guy who used jokes as non-answers? Or even now, how the Washington Press Corps lionizes Bush and giggle like school boys at his attempts at humor?
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, doubtless a bad person, still served as a huge contrast to Bush by showing some guts at Columbia U. Certainly he took a lot of gaff from Columbia’s President, coming out still ticking and smiling.
It’s a sure bet that if anyone spoke truth to power in that manner to Bush, he would just leave after the first paragraph and have the speaker beheaded. He does not even allow confrontation with Americans that disagree with him.
What a week it was. At least the flies and cell phone were real – or were they?

WOMEN'S HISTORY - MORE THAN JUST A MONTH
Rudy has tossed out what the media is calling the first negative ad in the Primaries. Couched in the “Swift boating” motif, it is directed against Hillary.
Of course Hillary has been criticized by John, Barack and their wives. All to be expected since front runners are traditionally targets, but Michele’s latest criticism was troublesome and disappointing.
Despite the fact that Michelle is an intelligent professional woman who has made many contributions to her husband’s campaign, she has recently become somewhat of a joke; carelessly saying things about him in interviews and on the stump that make people feel uncomfortable.
She showed that same lack of care when referencing Hillary recently. It disappointed her fans and reflected badly on her as a future possible first lady. As a woman and an attorney, she should know women’s history and be more careful of what she puts out as facts.
Michelle accused Hillary of using her gender as a reason for people to vote for her and declared that Barack did not use his color that way. True, Hillary speaks to women; to their hopes and fears and mostly to their experiences as women, sisters, wives and mothers. But just listen to Barack’s subject matter, cadence and voice change when he speaks to a Black audience. Compare it to when he speaks in the Senate or to mostly White audiences.
Obviously each candidate uses what they have, what they are. What we fault Michele for is not knowing or ignoring women’s history of oppression in this country. Most women have lived it or studied it in school. We reference this URL for her to inform herself, perhaps she can relate to these pages by a sister attorney: http://www.thelizlibrary.org/read/
Briefly here: Historically, women were in most ways slaves; they were non citizens; they could not own property, their children could be taken from them, they were denied advanced education and they had no protection from maltreatment by fathers, brothers, husbands or other males, to give a few examples.
However, they went out and fought for freedom. Women were vocal and instrumental in helping to abolish slavery. They fought for the right to vote, not just for themselves but for the recently emancipated slaves. Despite their efforts, Congress gave the vote only to Black MEN.
That oversight of history will not soon be forgotten by either black or white women. They see in their daily lives even today that there is a tenuous connection between the laws assuring their equality/freedom and reality. It’s not a question of women and men taking turns for jobs or office. For many of us it is a question of equal treatment or even survival.
This country’s massive media continues to ignore the plight of women in military schools, bases and foreign postings; women who have been mistreated, assaulted and raped by the very officers they are forced to obey under the military code.
Cartoonist, Garry Trudeau, almost alone, has addressed this problem again and again. In his latest strip on this subject: Iraq veteran, rape victim, Melissa, is pictured speaking with her counselor who observes that the army did not protect her.
Melissa agrees and adds that she was still ordered to work with her abuser even after she had reported his abuse. Then she tells of how she was cleaning her weapon one day and he came in. She pointed the gun at him without thinking and it froze him. For a brief time he experienced feeling absolutely powerless. Then she lowered the gun and walked away. She observed that it was “the closest I ever came to Justice…”
Many women in America still face similar situations in the workplace, on the streets and even in their homes. They know what the laws have promised, laws that their government has continued to overlook or neglect to enforce. It is unthinkable that anyone campaigning for women’s votes would trivialize it.

FOOLED YA AGAIN SUCKERS
“Ya can’t bring the troops home from Iraq until I say so, I’m the decider!” Once again, Lucy [Bush] held the football and urged Charlie Brown [Congressional Democrats] to kick it and once again, pulled it away so the kicker fell flat on his ass.
Lies and false promises got us to invade Iraq just as they continually are used to keep us in there. With each lie comes a “football” of concession: that we are making progress and just need a little more time, a few more troops, then we’ll leave.
It seems that everyone, Dems, many Repugs, Iraqi and most of the world want us to get out. But a megalomaniac stands in the way with signing statements and veto pen.
Why don’t legislators send a bill that will specifically fund the withdrawal of troops from Iraq to avoid the accusation that withholding funds for that war is harmful to the troops? Let Admiral Fallon testify.
Voters are vocal in their demand that we get out of there but the legislators are between a rock and a hard place. They see that the power is not with the people but is with Bush, so Repugs continue to back him and Dems don’t have enough of a majority. The buzz/spin is that the war can be and must be won. But we still have no idea what “winning” means.
Why this stalemate? Bush and the Repugs know that the Dems will take over the government in ’08 so they intend to hold on until the Dems force them to withdraw – then anything that results can be blamed on the Dems.
The Dems in Congress are aware of this. They still have no idea how to force fairness in reporting on the media. They see how easily Bush is able to turn the Dem groups against each other. They see that their support from the voters is shaky.
Just look at how Senator Kerry turned against Move On just because of an ad that adversely portrayed General Petraeus. When some Dems actually stand up and slug back at the Repugs, they should be cheered, not censured. But they sure do great slugging and demeaning each other.
With the aid of the media, it will be made to appear that the Dems started the war in the first place, refused to fund it adequately and retreated so the war was lost.
Despite the fact that Bush is holding the lives of our troops hostage to his grandiose war, history will be re-spun to make it appear that Bush and the Repugs supported our brave troops while the Dems forced them into retreat and humiliation just as they were on the verge of winning.
Shame on us.

PORCELAIN GOD OF LOVE
GenderGappers 2007 – 037
PORCELAIN GOD OF LOVE
Once again Eros rears his ugly head making more news than all the imminent problems and dangers in the world combined. Funny thing about these Repugs, they keep getting caught for things they accuse the Dems of doing.
And the things they keep getting caught doing are the things they profess to be violently against. Family values are what they profess to live by; they stand up in Congress decrying anyone who does not live by their definition as decreed by their God.
Then, as if we would never notice, they stand together en masse to condemn and punish Larry Craig but give only a slight wrist tap to David Vitter. The difference in treatment is not simply that one strayed into the gay arena while the other’s sin was dalliance with a woman not his wife.
No indeed, the difference is that they were free to forced Craig to announce his resignation from the Senate because he represents the Red State of Idaho. It has a Republican governor who would appoint a Repug to replace him.
Vitter lucked out because he represents a Blue State, Louisiana where the Governor is a Democrat sure to replace him with a Democrat. Repugs in no way would consider any crime bad enough to lose a House seat.
Meanwhile, Fred, the profile head, steps forth into this week’s cesspool of sex. He’s fresh from titillating the media concerning his candidacy for the presidency. They have given him tons of free air time, calling attention to his TV appearances in Law and Order.
The media tells us that he is a movie star like Ronald Reagan from all that TV exposure but somehow we wonder how that can be. His appearance on these episodes are fleeting – only a minute or two. He comes over as a gruff, self serving political whore – not a great character to be a president.
Besides that, in keeping it seems, with this prevailing potty week, his head in profile reminds any student of human anatomy of the glans penis – helmet like and decidedly uncute.
That may endear him to the many still closeted Repugs and other penis worshipers but surely that’s not enough for them to forgive his lobbying on behalf of women’s reproductive rights.
And in the spirit of these nasty, naughty, bad boys, the mass murderer–in-chief, using his cannon fodder as backdrop, smiles and tells the world he owns it and can do anything he pleases.

BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
GenderGappers 2007 – 036
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
There is a prevailing myth that tells a boy that he should not hit a girl and that warning ostensibly continues into adulthood. The problem is that with most myths, the whole implication is not exposed. The myth should add the important words, “in public”.
So behind closed doors, out of sight and with little compunction, men regularly beat up on women with little or no public knowledge or censure unless his unloving touch sends her to a hospital or the morgue.
Interestingly this myth has been advanced recently as the reason the wives of Hillary Clinton’s presidential primary opponents joined in the fray with their separate attacks.
Elizabeth Edwards, always admirable, took the course of directness. She contended that her husband would do more for women than Hillary would. She was up front and named names.
On the other hand, Michelle Obama took a rather sneaky, indirect approach and pretended that she was not talking about Hillary at all. She declared that anyone who could not keep their own house in order would not keep the White House in order.
Of course, the Obama campaign quickly said that she was only talking of how her husband kept his own house in order. But as the campaign that approved her remarks knew, her words would be taken up by the media and reverberate for many news cycles as an attack against Hillary. Also, it provided just one more opportunity for media exposure for Barack to deny what was obvious.
Then there is Hillary-basher-in-chief, Arianna Huffington who apparently started her blog for the sole purpose of tearing down and ripping apart every thing about Hillary that she can. The site is so heavily moderated that it seldom will print a reply post that disagrees.
Meanwhile John and Barack are presenting themselves as pure and prescient, claiming to be Washington outsiders uncontaminated with corporate funding. Their claims do not all hold water as investigation has shown that they get corporate monies indirectly or laundered.
If there’s mud to sling, the wives and honorary wife, Arianna, step forward in the time tested belief that it’s OK for a woman to beat up another woman in public. But mainly, the boys are sticking to the issues and following Hillary’s lead to attack the real problem for America – George Bush. But we all know they are doing plenty of beating up of Hillary using surrogates behind closed doors.
Recently, a great cartoon vividly reflected our country’s attitude. It showed a dog with numerous scars, welts and a broken paw sitting on a bench with a woman with numerous scars, welts and a broken arm.
The dog says, “MY ABUSER IS GOING TO JAIL TONIGHT!”
The woman replies, “THAT’S NICE. MINE’S GOING TO PITCH A MAJOR LEAGUE GAME.”

THE GANG WASN'T PLAYING
GenderGappers 2007 – 035
THE GANG WASN’T PLAYING
In political debates there are always attacks by the other candidates on the leader of the pack, trying to bring themselves up and/or knock the leader down. But the ABC debate was unique since the attack was enjoined not only by the other seven candidates but also by the moderator.
Any of us who remember Georgie Stephonopoulis’ perfidy when he left a trusted position with President Bill Clinton’s administration knew Senator Clinton was in for some nastiness during the recent ABC debate.
For those who do not remember, Georgie left the W.H. near the end of Bill’s term, and went heart and soul into the Conservative media. He damned the Clintons and everyone else at the White House, spilling secretes and telling lies that even Georgie Bush would envy.
Geogie had parlayed his vile gossip into spots on news panels and then as anchor on ABC, but he had taken a lot of heat for his dishonesty over the years and was poised ready to get the panel to slap down Hillary for his enjoyment and to help his candidate, Barack.
So he set up multifaceted accusatory questions to Senator Clinton in a manner that he was sure would result in a gang bang hoping that one after another of the other candidates would pile on.
Barack had his usual Johnny-one-note answer to his lack of experience by claiming he had demonstrated judgment where the other Senators had not. But what he, and his polite opponents never say is that Barack was never forced to make his decision with the additional information given to the others in the crucible of the Republican controlled Senate.
We did not want Bush to go into Iraq either but do not think that demonstration of our judgment makes us competent to be president.
It would be more impressive if he could or would recount any other instance of good judgment. “Over the two years Obama has been in the Senate, the only Iraq-related vote on which they differed was the confirmation earlier this year of General George Casey to be Chief of Staff of the Army, which Obama voted for and Clinton voted against.”
Barack recounted Rove’s litany of Clinton negatives, but he labored alone on this track. Too bad for Georgie – the grownups on the panel wouldn’t play his game. Their responses were moderate and thoughtful. A couple even admitted they had made similar mistakes.
At one point, following repeated goading by Georgie, Biden retorted, “I know what you’re doing, you are trying to start a fight.” Please moderators take note. Moderate fairly and leave your prejudices and disapprovals at the door.

OUT-BUTCHING BUSH
The extemporaneous Obama can be confusing sometimes, as noted by Keith Olbermann and guest, Jon Alter. Both revealed they had noted his verbal confusion and declared in some instances that they had no idea what Barack said.
However, Obama’s prepared statements are clear enough as are his suggestions that Senator Hillary Clinton was Bush/Cheney Lite. We understood perfectly when he said he would supplant Bush as “The Uniter”; also, he came through clear as a bell with his sword rattling regarding Pakistan, all of which caused commentators to call him Bush/Cheney Heavy - a return of cowboy diplomacy, this time with blazing saddles.
What a waste of energy and what a gift to the media and Republicans this bickering about the Iraq war is; the rank and file is getting tired of it. One caller to Air America Radio laid it out succinctly. BUSH IS TO BLAME FOR THE WAR – BLAME HIM!
Just put yourself back to post 9/11 and imagine that you are a U.S. Senator or Representative presented with this bill. The whole country is frightened and the Bushies and their poodle media are adding to the fear every minute.
You get special briefings from Bush’s intelligence and cabinet. You heard about “the smoking gun not being a mushroom cloud. The information you have to go on comes from Bush/Cheney. NOW you know they cherry picked the intelligence on Iraq – but you didn’t know that then. You believed that the UN inspection would be honored by Bush instead of ignored.
All you knew was that most of the country believed that Bush was protecting them. The media constantly backed up the Bush/Cheney war drums and told you and your constituents over and over that Iraq had weapons of mass destructions and the ability and intent to send these to attack America.
Today you know you and the country were lied to over and over. Now you know that UN inspectors were allowed into Iraq. Now you know that there never were any WMD and the lies and deceptions went on and on. And NOW your constituents know it too.
But you were not a United States Senator or Representative post 9/11 and you have the luxury of 20/20 hindsight so use it to remember how things were back then like a thinking adult should.
So enough already with this bickering, fueled by a media that is dedicated to stirring up animosity between Democrats! Just listen to Chris Matthews or any of the other so-called informed political commentators – they just love to rev up any kind of difference among the Dem candidates. They hype it and mischaracterize it so why play into their hands?
Now old Karl Rove is free of the restrictions and legal problems of the W.H. and primed ready to wreak havoc on Democrats. He knows that
Hillary is the one candidate that can beat any Republican so he will inflame the Dem fears and prejudices as he has done so successfully before. He’ll be working full time for the woman haters.
He’s controlled these Dems for a long time by tuning in to, and feeding their passion for hate. We can defeat Rove by putting the blame for the Iraq war and all the problems in Arabia onto Bush where it belongs instead of flailing each other with it.

BECAUSE JUST BE KOS
GenderGappers 2007 – 033
BECAUSE JUST BE KOS
Time was that the primo bloggers were knights in shinning armor, blogging tirelessly in their bathrobes. They fearlessly exposed the crimes of the Bush administration that the main stream media ignored.
Their efforts made it possible for anyone with a computer to access just what was going on in the world. The day of the White House gaggle as the source of all that was truth and light had passed. The American electorate could be hoodwinked no longer.
After things got so bad in Iraq that people vociferously complained to Bush, the traditional media could ignore it no longer. They were severely upstaged and shown up. To get back into the game they actually started quoting these outlaw bloggers in their articles.
Mostly because since the hush hush war stuff was out, they were off the hook with the people who paid their salary – the huge corporations that had formerly controlled all the news that “was fit for us peons to know”.
Now the Blogs have attained notoriety and along with it POWER and many of them are relishing it like pigs in slop. This was demonstrated recently at the Yearly Kos Convention.
Some seem they find the misuse of power is evil and are against it when others have it but when they have it then it is democracy. All their preaching and vilifying went the way of the dodo bird as they imitated the very main stream media they formerly castigated. They chose sides rather than remaining neutral and presenting all points of view evenly.
Just like the street gangs, they initiated a show of colors by the use of wrist bands. Visitors were told to choose “the candidate’s forum they wanted to attend. “ Then later it was reported that one candidate’s colors were taken at a higher rate than the others and the results were reported as a poll.
This was highly disturbing to those who were just curious about a candidate but were not indicating their voting preference.
Overall there were many there who gave silent and respectful attention to all of the candidates regardless of their personal preference and this was a source of pride and hope in this newest generation of political comentators.

POLLY WANNA CRACKER?
GenderGappers 2007 – 032
POLLY WANA CRACKER?
The Repugs are all Jonny-one-noteing their propaganda talking points and the dumbass Dems among us are parroting their spin: “Yassar! Whatever you say, sar!” They have been so conditioned to believe whatever Repugs say that they do it despite the harm it does to them.
They are among the first to criticize the Dem Majority in Congress for running scared yet they do the same thing when confronted with the need for independent thought.
Currently, the one note Repugs sing is that they can win in ’08 because the Dems will nominate Senator Clinton. Hillary, they say, will bring out their base while the Dem base will wring its collective hands, blubbering like a two-year-old.
We heard several different Repug spokes-people, obviously reading from the same scrip, declare that the Repugs could keep the White House in the up coming election. They all made the same three points in the same order:
· By election time, drawdown of the troops in Iraq would be a reality so the Dems would lose their main issue.
· Also, Repugs would have solidified support around one candidate and WE all speak with one voice.
· The Dems would nominate Hillary who is unelectable and we could always count on disgruntled Dems to weep and wail and vote for a third party instead of their Party’s nominee.
Then they would follow up with their usual Hillary critique ranging from her choice of clothing to her “baggage” from the Clinton administration. They would claim that she is so hated that voters would be polarized and Repugs would win over the country.
The mere fact that they are allowed, by the various media talk shows, to continually repeat the false charges of the Whitewater era shows how desperately they fear and need to defeat Hillary, and no wonder:
· Hillary has won over many Independent voters who are seeing her for the first time as she is, not as the Bush media has painted her and they are impressed with her knowledge, her level headed good sense and her ability to communicate.
· They fear that minorities will see how greatly her experience dwarfs that of any of the other leading candidates.
· Their own internal polling has shown that many Repug women support her, and intend to vote for her in the secrecy of the polling booth. It seems these women are eager to give the middle finger salute to the males who have denigrated and devaluated them over the years.
Even so, the Repugs and the media are conflicted. They very much do not want Richardson or Obama to win the primary because just about anything they use against them could be and would be construed as racist. So they are hoping that Edwards or another white guy will win – they’ve had experience with mud slinging them.

NEMESIS
GenderGappers 2007 – 031
NEMESIS
There are many who feel that we are approaching a Constitutional crisis. Interestingly enough, the expert Constitutional legal minds of both political Parties agree that Bush has gone beyond his office and that he should be impeached.
Right now it is a murmur but it may soon become too loud to ignore. Also, there are still many positive Repug voices clamoring that Bush has only done what is necessary to protect the country. That fear-spin is still in high gear.
But the Dem natives are getting very restless. Many have become increasingly unhappy with the inability of the newly elected Dem majority to bring the troops back from Iraq. They fear that Bush will invade/attack Iran before he leaves office.
But stop and think, please. What if the Dems did stand up to Bush as you want them to? What if they refused to fund the war and demanded that the troops leave Iraq knowing that there is sufficient time for orderly withdrawal as there are plenty of funds in the pipeline?
We think, with his usual disregard for troop safety, Bush would just stop supplying them, claiming that Congress had cut off funds for the troops. There would be many dead and injured and the Dems would be blamed for it. Realize this – Bush will sell out the lives of the troops, our economy and every one of us before he backs down or listens to reason or the electorate.
Recently the Dems have become disturbingly adamant that Congress do something or else. There are those who declare that the crimes of the Bush administration are so obvious that when the Dem majority does not act it means it is in collusion with the Repugs to keep the extended, dictatorial powers of the presidency Bush has instigated.
There is little disagreement that Iraq is a quagmire now as the proof comes daily in the form of bombs and flag draped coffins. It is also becoming apparent that we just cannot pull our troops out at once without instigating a blood bath.
Who can forget the spectacle of our Viet Nam retreat as our people were hurriedly evacuated under the guns of the VC? Despite this there are those who think all we have to do is leave and the Iraqi populace will bring the departing troops candy and bon voyage flowers. Does that remind anyone of what was promised when Bush invaded Iraq?
There is talk of supporting a third Party or even not voting at all. Hopefully these are mostly from the lunatic fringe and not representative of the rank and file. But the fact remains that if this attitude gains converts it can put the much needed change of administration in jeopardy as well as hopes of increasing the slim Dem majority in Congress.
As was said by Benjamin Franklin as he signed the Declaration of Independence, "We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately."
Good advice. The many ways justice and the Constitution have been thwarted cannot continue but getting pissed off, accusing our representatives of treason and opting out of the process will just insure that we will all hang separately.

MAGNIFICENT DECEPTION
GenderGappers 2007 – 030
MAGNIFICENT DECEPTION
Here come the Repugs all fired up to rub Dem’s noses in their failed efforts to please the American voter. And as these seasoned political-savy, no-holes-barred Senators and Representatives proceed they know they can count on their cheering gallery to be the grass roots Democrats.
Not too long ago there was an election and the people declared they wanted out of the Iraq war pronto. The Dems won the majority, albeit slim, in both Houses of Congress. They worked hard to bring home the troops but every effort was countered by the Repugs.
They could pass a bill but could not override the Bush veto so the end result has been that the war is no nearer to ending because of what Dems were able to do, and they have been pummeled by their own supporters.
This week the Dems tried again to force the people to see that they were still trying to do what they were elected to do. They pulled an all-nighter in the Senate to show the country how the Repugs were preventing a vote on a bill that would bring home the troops. The Repugs made their glorious speeches about how they wanted the troops to come home too. They accused the Dems of “grandstanding” and “neglecting the nation’s business”. Then they prevented the vote.
As usual, most of the media supported the Repugs and ridiculed the Dems. Another round to the Repugs! Street fighters always win over those fighting by Marquis of Queensberry rules when the referee is the media.
Now the Repug leadership knows how the voters feel and is taking advantage of this criticism. They are putting forth watered-down legislation and amendments to get the troops out of Iraq, that Bush will be sure to allow passage of. Then they will have the Dems over a barrel. Either they go along with the Repug amendments or else! Whatever they do they are fracked.
If they vote against the Repug bill, because of certain items which may contain provisions for leaving many troops and prolonging the war, the Dems will be blamed for preventing the withdrawal.
If they vote for it, the Repugs will get the credit for doing the people’s will. They will mask the provisions in their bill that will prolong the war and present it in the best possible light. The media will assist them in hoodwinking the American people into thinking the minority Repugs did what the majority Dems COULD NOT AND WOULD NOT DO.
When the Dem legislators cry foul, the Repugs will call them poor sports and bad losers who really cared little for the troops or they would have done something. After all, they were the majority.
And the screaming masses of Left-wingers who have bitterly assailed the Democrats will be so consumed by their own hatred that they will be blinded to the truth. Another round to the Repugs!
Democrats should take lessons from Red Sox fans.

THE WAR AGAINST WOMEN - PART 3
Promises, promises – earnestly given but never fulfilled. That is the story and the strength of the Repug politicians and, to our horror, the track record so far of the Bush appointments to the Supreme Court.
Remember how Roberts and ScAleto both swore to uphold “established law”? Law that had withstood the test of time and been confirmed by several courts? Laws like those that had concern for the health of women?
Well you can forgetaboutit. But don’t forget to remember that Bush could still be picking one or more new justices. Scary isn’t it and don’t think the Dem majority in Congress will stop it. The Repug members of Congress and the media will manage to slip in still another justice who promises fairness but delivers only to Bush
Surely you’ve noticed that as more and more Repugs SAY they want the war to end and the troops brought home, when it comes to a vote they stick like glue to Bush. The media tells us that more and more of them are “peeling off” but we must understand that this is only for the consumption of their voters. If they are reelected they will go right back to promising but never delivering.
And if you are anticipating that the voters will elect a Dem Congress in ’08 with a large majority, gird your loins and whatever sanity you possess. Bush has already proclaimed that if there is anything that HE THINKS WARRANTS IT he will declare martial law. There will be no election in ’08. He will just continue to reign unopposed.
President Bush, without so much as issuing a press statement, on May 9 signed a directive that granted near dictatorial powers to the office of the president in the event of a national emergency declared by the president.
http://www.ww4report.com/node/3940
If Congress opposes this move, Bush will simply abolish Congress, and the Supreme Court will back him up. He has always ignored The Constitution, Congress and the American people – don’t think he won’t continue just as he has ignored the law with signing statements, refusal to cooperate in oversight and illegal wire tapping, for example.
Religious Fundamentalists already organized and in place will determine and enforce edicts relating to many things. Women’s clothing will be affected as will their civil and reproductive rights including education and employment. If this sounds a bit like the way Muslims govern women, deal with it.
