A traditional roast features a guest of honor and a group of people who say good natured, humorous, outlandish and sometimes crude remarks about the guest of honor all in a spirit of fun. And most important, the roastee gets to answer and roast her/his roasters in turn.
Rovian politics uses the roast motif but his game is nothing like a roast. It lacks the good humor, the grace and the give and take.
It adds vicious lies and promotes hatred turning them into political depth charges against any person who dares to say, do or appear in the same area or organization, as anyone who is against the Bush policies.
Once Rove initiates the initial slime it is issued to the lap-dog columnists and TV pundit-gabbers as talking points. This keeps the slime moving all over the media and blogs so many people are exposed to it.
Most remember the Swift Boat slime that was so successfully used against Kerry in the last presidential election. Nearly every day there is another person or organization slimed by the Republican slime lords.
On this Women’s Equality Day, August 26, 2006, we celebrate the latest person to be slimed, and nominate Judge Anna Diggs Taylor as Woman of the Year. Finally someone stood up and called Bush what he is -- a criminal.
Judge Taylor, a federal judge in Detroit, struck down the National Security Agency’s domestic surveillance policy last Thursday. She called it unconstitutional and illegal abuse of presidential power.
Of course the Bush Justice Department quickly filed a notice of appeals which effectively delays Judge Taylor’s ruling to immediately halt the NSA Program.
Just as quickly, the judge was denounced for being Liberal, a woman, a tool of the ACLU and of course, their stock in trade, a person who wants to help the terrorists.
It is terrible when public figures are lied about as it encourages the nut cases to plan harmful actions. We’ve seen how judges have been a target in the recent past and must applaud the courage of Judge Taylor who surely knew what kind of Hell her findings would bring.
We all must lend our support to her and a group has already set up a web-site where we can send Judge Taylor our words of support and find a link to her entire decision. http://www.judgetaylor.org

MULTIPLE WARGASMS
We are hearing a chilling deja vu from Bush and his mob. Just go back and read the news following 9/11 and note how quickly Iraq appears. Remember the mushroom cloud illusion to make us think nuclear bomb?
That was then and now the country is Iran. Bush is frothing at the mouth to start bombing that country, insisting that it is threatening us with nuclear rockets.
Seymour Hersh, veteran investigative reporter, has laid out the whole wargasmic crowd’s plan and it is eerily similar to what was written pre-preemptive invasion of Iraq. http://news.google.com/news?hl=en&ned=us&q=Seymour+Hersh+iran&btnG=Search+News
So here we are once more. Will we let Bush do this to us again? He fooled and scared us many times and shame on him but if we go along again, shame on us and heaven help this country.
Think where we might be if we had put our energy and effort into Afghanistan and never taken on the futile and illegal invasion of Iraq. We entered the battle in Afghanistan because 9/11 plans were hatched there by terrorist who were protected by the Taliban.
Now a neglected Afghanistan is being led by its warlords back into their old style of life under the Taliban. Remember how Laura Bush gushed about how Afghanistani women were now free and that they could vote, hold jobs, go to school and dress as they wished? Here’s just one report from last year:
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/03/29/world/main683742.shtml
Never happened! Human Rights Watch tells us that now the plight of women there is humongous. They are raped and beaten in their homes, and if they go outside they are tortured by the Taliban Vice Squads.
The right to education that Laura gushed Afghani women had, if it ever existed, is now revoked. They cannot leave their homes unless they are completely covered and accompanied by a male family member.
This is a good example of the whore-values of the wargasmic Bush regime. This is the culmination of the tragedy they brought to this country. First they drove out the Taliban warlords then they turned their Christian backs and let Osama and his group go free.
Now Afghanistan is once again a huge producer of poppies for the drug trade. The standard of living has toppled and as usual, the main group to suffer is women – and we know how Republicans hate women.
As if all this was not enough there is now a polio epidemic plaguing these people while the Bushies turn their backs and contemplate a preemptive invasion of Iran.

PERPETUAL WAR, PERPETUAL FEAR, PERPETUAL BUSH
GenderGappers 2006 – 033
PERPETUAL WAR, PERPETUAL FEAR, PERPETUAL BUSH
"It is a mistake to believe there is no threat to the United States of America," Bush said this week.
“We are fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here.” Bush has often given as a reason for his preemptive Iraq war. How can anyone trust this liar with their lives?
Hold off on the celebrations – the election for a Senator from Connecticut is not until November. Money will flow between now and then and you can be sure much of it will come from Republican sources.
Already Ken Mehlman, Party chief, is saying the defeatist wing of the Democratic Party won. We’ll see further inferences that these left wing Dems are too weak to defend the country; that they are cowards and unpatriotic.
They call Joe a patriotic progressive who wants to end the nasty fights between the Republicans and Democrats so good laws can be made for the American people. A dizzying spin but one we’ve often heard.
They want their boy Joe back and who can blame them? He has been a loyal supporter of Bush. That brings up the big problem Democrats have. They tend to call it as they see it and to hell with Party loyalty.
Compare this to the way the Republicans got so strong that they took over all three branches of government. They obeyed what Ronald Regan called, “the 13th Commandment”. Never speak ill of another Republican.
So Delay was obviously a crook? Not according to any Republican who saw all the evidence and still saw no evil. And this was true of all the other crooks who, blinded by the power they had, dipped into the get rich pool without a thought for the consequences.
Watch how cleverly the Rovian gangs cover up the obvious implications of the Connecticut Primary. They don’t want the country thinking that it was the Iraq debacle that caused the large turnout to turn out Holy Joe, so they will drag in spin, and emphasize whatever they can in the news to obliterate it.
The present conflict in Lebanon is a fertile field to use to turn the conversations and minds of the country away from Iraq. Whereas we are not allowed to see the rows of flag draped coffins of our Iraqi dead, we now can often see the rows of coffins filled with the bodies of Lebanese.
And all around this Middle East area there are hot spots to heat up. Joe Heller drew a great cartoon showing this: one panel shows the axis of evil in 2002 was Iraq, N. Korea and Iran – a triangle.
On another panel for 2006, Heller draws the dodecahedron of evil: Hezbollah, Insurgents, bin Laden, AlQuida, Iraq, Hamas, Radicalized Muslims, Syria, Shite Militants, North Korea, Iran, Suni Militants, Pakistan Warlords, Afghan Taliban and all other America haters.
The caption shows Bush saying, “Let’s just say it’s gotten a little complicated…” Sure appears to be plenty there to once again pull the wool of American foreign policy over the complacent eyes of the American electorate.

OUTBACK OF BEYOND
We’ve been walking and looking around our neighborhood imagining what it would be like if bombs were dropping and buildings and people were blowing up.
As a country, we have mostly blindly followed Bush’s fantasy spin of the destruction of the two huge towers in New York City shortly after he took control of our defenses against terrorism.
An act of terrorism he claims came from evil-doers from outside the country; so powerful they prevented NORAD’s early response -- so powerful the evil-doer leader’s family was allowed to leave for their home in Saudi Arabia while everyone else was grounded.
Prior to this, NORAD had an excellent record of immediate response to threats. Who ordered it to stand down in the face of multiple hijackings on September 11th?
That was then and now it is vitally important that we leave vengeance by impeachment aside for the moment and concentrate on stopping this destructive man and his Party from inflicting still further harm in the next two years.
The Leadership of Congress must be taken back in November. Rove’s dirty trick squad is in full cry to prevent that from happening. We know many of his tactics but one in particular especially affects women.
Throughout the country, Republicans are running and financing women to run for open seats with the certainty that women will preferably vote for other women – even if they are Republican.
In many cases, these candidates may be well qualified people and the temptation is great but women must resist. It is vital that we put a Congress in place that will curb Bush’s power over the next two years. Waiting any longer may be too late.
That means the majority Party must be Democratic. Forget about revenge and impeachment – we must first to get our country up and running . We need to get our ports and boarders safe. We need to get the troops home and work on our reputation with the rest of the world.
We must break the back of Bush’s use of fear to make people vote for his Party and one way we can do that is by preventing Karl Rove from controlling women’s votes.
Bush has used his pseudo-religious reverence to make himself appear godly to his base. The inference is that god is directing his actions.
Outback of beyond getting Republican/Bush power off our backs and stop them from completely destroying the world, we can vote for women on their merits instead of their gender or Party. Now we dare not!
