IT'S NOT THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE TO MAKE

Once again the media is telling us that they have chosen our next president and vice president. Already happened, it says. “You partisan yahoos don’t even need to vote. It’s not the People’s choice. It’s ours.

“You nincompoops have such short memories but try and think back to 2000 and 2004. We chose the candidate then too. How’d that work out for you? We do it softly, we do it with lies and threats, we do it rough and for your amusement we do it with misogyny.”

Remember all the flutter about the cost of John Edward’s haircut? It was only because it could be used to derogate women – the media loved calling him “The Breck Girl. But nothing was ever said about the thousand$ spent on his suits, ties, and shirts or how they looked on him.

Hillary’s clothing, body and hair was constantly commented on, usually in a derogatory fashion. If it wasn’t the tut-tuts about cleavage it was the nasty bits about her pantsuits and the male’s reason for why she wore them instead of a dress they could look up under. http://www.commondreams.org/archive/2008/05/13/8917?page=1

Joe Biden is seldom even noticed; even when he makes a gaffe that would sink any other Party’s candidate like stone. Some mention has been made of his facial makeovers and hair plugs in the more gossipy blogs/columns. Even his monumental gaffes are not criticized – the media only hear the ones allegedly made by Governor Palin or Senator McCain.

Same with Obama’s clothing – for men it’s just suits and ties. Of course the perfect one must and does dress with perfection. So who mentions his $1,500 suits and makes nasty comments about him spending all that money? And even suggest what he may be hiding with custom made suits.

And woe on anyone who mentions the clever way he is fooling you with the slight whitening of his hair at the temples. Gives him an older, experienced look to those who have not seen the changes gradually made with a little white powder. [Oops, this may land me in gitmo.]

Sarah Palin’s new wardrobe has been fueling the hate engines for days now. Led, of course, by a media that spends most of its time looking for something to crap on her with, but little is made of the $520 Ferragamo shoes worn by McCain, although the talk-show host like to blather on about them.

To many women obey the cultural edict to lighten up when constantly faced with the barrage of hateful misogyny and sexism that was and still is aimed at Senator Clinton and their own gender.

Many more even join in now as the hate-crime-inducing drivel is spewed out against Governor Palin. The idea that SNL and The Daily Show can make such hideous fun of womankind is worse than deplorable. It is criminal and it incites violence and disrespect for all women. http://www.philly.com/inquirer/currents/20081026_Palin_deserves_our_respect.html

Women have just got to wake up to the fact that sexism and misogyny is no more humorous or acceptable or harmless than making fun of lynching, nappy-headed-hos or Uncle Toms.

“Just slit her throat, lock her in a car boot, and drive the car into river in West Virginia.
“Ain’t gonna let no whore screw with the man
“And a Drive-By Won’t Be Out of the Question. What goes around, comes around. The stupid fucking bitch !!
“Talk About WHITE TRASH that bitch better keep looking over her shoulder.”
This is just a few examples of what Obama supporters said about Hillary Clinton.

"[W]hatever else the current generation of feminists - and particularly the Third Wave feminists - have accomplished, the battle to diminish the cultural acceptability of sexism and misogyny is being lost. Lighten up is not a successful strategy. Lighten up is no strategy at all. . . We must commit ourselves to an innovative and energetic campaign to change our culture. The way things look now, we're not just losing a battle about sexism in this election - we're losing the whole damn war."

BAA BAA BLAH

Today's Democrats are yesterday's Republicans: might makes right backed by money. The former staunch advocates of democracy in Liberal Talk always claimed that Democrats allowed free speech and allowed differences of opinion. Now Thom Hartman, who often said movements came not from the leaders but from the people, refuses to even hear anyone who is not full of the BO kool-aid. And of course, he avoids any mention of The Denver Group or PUMA, unless it is to derogate them.

It isn’t just that they consider us “poor little sheep who have gone astray” that “will get over it” and come to genuflect at the feet of their holy one. Oh, no, it goes deeper than that. We are being removed from more and more so-called Democratic Blogs and Lists because any OPINION adverse to BO is forbidden.

As you may have noted the BO campaign and supporters accuse any group, person or article that is critical of him with racism. Freedom of speech in America is on the way out. Magazine covers and articles that portray Hillary Clinton in hideously mutilated and sexist ways were and are just fine; but BO is not to be treated as anything less than a divinity.

Nonetheless millions are speaking out against the Democratic leadership that purged the Party’s laws and values to assure BO of the nomination and freeze out Hillary and her 18 million from the nomination process. There are still Democratic/Liberal Lists and Blogs that allow discussion and differences to be expressed.

And now there is Liberal Democratic Talk Radio available to us. Check these URLs for info: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/morningq
http://www.blogtalkradio.com/no-we-wont

Deserving your attention is the latest ad from the Denver Group we have told you about before. Remember that all they are asking is for a fair Convention with Hillary’s name to be placed in nomination too, just as Franklin D. Roosevelt’s was in 1932 when he was 90 delegates short of the 2/3 needed to win.
http://thedenvergroup.blogspot.com/2008/07/latest-ad-from-denver-group.html

Don’t be fooled by Howard Dean’s statement that of course, Hillary would be on the ballot – it means nothing to “be on the ballot” UNLESS HER NAME IS PLACED IN NOMINATION.

Dem Superdelegates Rule After All
By Craig Crawford | July 14, 2008 6:00 AM
“There was a time months ago -- when Hillary Rodham Clinton led the Democratic nomination race -- that party superdelegates were the bad guys according to the rhetoric coming out of Barack Obama's camp.
Obama supporters trashed the unelected, automatic and unpledged delegates as undemocratic autocrats when it looked as though they might put Clinton over the top. Not anymore.
With the dust settled on the primary season, one thing is clear: Obama is the presumed nominee thanks only to superdelegates. He never did win enough pledged delegates to reach the winning number, falling about 350 votes short. His expected victory stems from beating Clinton among superdelegates 463-257, according to a tally on Real Clear Politics.
All the more reason for Obama to make sure that there is no roll call including Clinton's name on the ballot at the national convention -- which a few die-hard fans of the former First Lady are still clamoring for.
Why highlight just how close the Democratic contest really was? And there is certainly no gain for Obama in dwelling on how he had to depend on super delegates to win the nomination.” Crawford writes for CQPolitics
If you do not like Obama and are conflicted about who to vote for that will not hurt women, here’s an excerpt of, and a URL for a must read article by Melissa McEwan:

“Even before the primary had ended, feminists/womanists (hereafter FWs) who had become disenchanted with Senator Barack Obama as a result of worrying rhetoric on reproductive rights, his and his campaign's use of sexist dog whistles, and/or his silence in response to an appalling onslaught of misogyny unleashed upon his opponent, were being bullied at any indication (real or imagined) that they would not vote for him. The usual cudgels were brought out to browbeat them -- Roe (to which I'll return later) and the ominous accusation that if McCain won, it would be their fault. As ever, it was the people calling out sexism and/or anti-FW policies who were charged with creating division among progressives, as opposed to the people engaging in sexism and their defenders.

Given Obama's most recent flub on abortion rights, first stating he doesn't "think that 'mental distress' qualifies as the health of the mother" regarding late-term abortion exceptions, then clarifying by reiterating the same thing and fleshing out the pregnant straw-woman who wants a late term abortion just because she's "feeling blue," plus more of the "pastor and family" rhetoric -- a veritable symphony of rightwing talking points, infantilization and mistrust of women, and hostility toward their autonomy -- one might expect the bullies to realize that perhaps the FWs who had concerns about Obama also had a point, but if bullies were rational, they wouldn't be bullies. And so the drumbeat to cast FWs with legitimate complaints as the root of progressive discordance has only intensified.

BLAZING STRADDLES

In the space of only a few days, a 12 year-old Vermont girl was reported missing, frantically searched for and finally found dead. Internet’s, My Space, was implicated; a sex ring preying on young girls was suggested and the girl’s uncle was revealed as a serial sex offender and charged with kidnapping. The investigation continues.

Lots of sadness and tears; lots of hand wringing and questioning of the judicial system as the investigation continues but really nothing new, no insight. No one speaks of why we train our girls to be victims; needing and wanting the attention of a male to give them significance.

Men’s religion has played a major role in the subjugation of and crimes against women – this is still going on and is a major reason why church and state must be kept separate.

Bruce Ware — a Southern Baptist scholar – argued that one reason that men abuse their wives is because women rebel against their husband’s God-given authority: “‘And husbands on their parts, because they’re sinners, now respond to that threat to their authority either by being abusive, which is of course one of the ways men can respond when their authority is challenged - -or, more commonly, to become passive, acquiescent, and simply not asserting the leadership they ought to as men in their homes and in churches,’ Ware said from the pulpit of Denton Bible Church in Denton, Texas.”

Now the presumptive choice of the DNC and the mean street media, Zelig Obama, has announced that he will continue George Bush’s faith based initiatives – that have melded church and state together.

BO has made many promises regarding women’s rights, reproductive and otherwise but in the light of his several position changes in order to appeal to everyone, women will surely also be a casualty of his blazing straddles, outright lies and prevarications. No wonder he hasn’t clarified his core values and his beliefs, like Zelig, he has none – he just reflects whatever group he’s trying to impress.

“[W]ho will Obama throw under the bus next? Hmmm…already under the bus: women, old people, baby boomers, the Clinton Administration, his grandmother, Rev. Wright, Fr. Phleger, Tony Rezko, Samantha Power, various and sundry other staff members, the LGBT community, Muslims, supporters of Israel, Appalachia, African American men, the Great Possum Seal, Cuban-Americans, Wesley Clark, Moveon.org, the fourth amendment, the establishment clause…who’s next?” -- (bostonboomer at The Confluence)

“Women do not get into positions of power without the aid of men in this man’s world, and neither do men. Men trade on the connections they make in fraternities, golf clubs, and strip clubs. And people want to criticize women for trading on the connections that are available to us? In the entire history of this patriarchal nation, a mere 2 percent of all Congress-members have been women. If we eliminate all the women who became Congresswomen because of their connections to husbands, that embarrassingly pitiful percentage declines considerably.” – egalia

Another blast from the past:
GenderGappers 1997 – 002

YOU MEAN WE HAD ForeMOTHERS, TOO?
After thousands of years of existence in virtual slavery, woman began to actively demand that they be considered and treated as adult human beings at around the turn of this century.

We shall generalize these dates since any of you that want specifics can easily find them on the Internet. Except for some women's studies, you won't find this taught in schools.

Our calendar is based on marking year one as the year Jesus Christ was born. It took the advent of women's scholarship and archaeological interpretation to reveal, in our current century, that there once lived a people who worshipped both Goddess and God. We now learn that these Goddess-worshipping tribes practiced gender equity -- women were High Priests and doctors; were free beings; were educated and could own property.

These tribes were peaceful and prosperous for their time. This changed when these peaceful villages were overrun by tribes who worshipped a male God exclusively. Under the rule of this God, women were condemned to a slavery that persisted for nearly all women until around the beginning of the 20th Century. Women were the property of their father, given by him to their husband to do with as he wished. They could not own property, were not considered to be educable or even to have human abilities -- all because men believed that God's word declared that woman caused the fall of man in the Garden of Eden.

This belief was enforced throughout the centuries by Paul's gospel, witch hunts, cultural and societal mandates as well as the meting out of harsh punishment if a woman stepped out of her male-god-established role. Throughout those thousands of years, most men were free to develop while women's development was suffocated.

This century has seen a massive change in the lives of women, who have so far, been given fewer than 100 years to catch up to a system that men had thousands of years to grow, use and interact with.

While most women were restricted to children and home, most men were bonding in government, education, law, fraternal organizations, military, sport, finance, uniform dress etc. Women led their lives vicariously through men, developing methods of placating and pleasing men -- and many still carry the results of that programming of thousands of years.

Some of the fiercest defenders of gender inequity are women -- women who will not or cannot seek the counsel of the Goddess within.

Whoopi Goldberg, who most would consider a liberated woman, made the following statement in a TV interview: "Black people are the only people who came to this country and were not allowed to vote."

Whoops, Whoopi - women of any skin color are people too. We have been coming to this country since the 17th Century and weren't allowed to vote either -- not until early in the 1920's (excepting a couple of state elections.)

And all our foremothers before them, before us, lie in their sacrificial graves unsung and unremembered.

I do not find any qualities in Obama that indicate he is capable of bringing about this cooperation. I see arrogance, imperiousness, inflexibility, and contempt for those who do not hand him what he wants. He does not appear to want unity, only capitulation. Anglachel’s Journal

How ironic is it that we internet activists have been hollering for eight years for Democrats to fight, and now that we have a fighter on our hands, so many of those hollerers are hollering AGAINST her? lambert at Corrente

Obama merely has his words, hope and the video of his wife sounding unpatriotic which will be used over and over and over again. And that's why so many Clinton supporters are reluctant to vote for Obama if he becomes the nominee. It's not because they are bitter. It is because they chose Hillary over Obama for two real reasons: experience and definition.

We know what we are getting with Hillary Clinton. We've read the label that has been on the box for years. And, yes, we may not like everything about her, but at least we know what we are getting when we support her. There are no surprises, no baggage left unexamined. Hillary has been in the public eye for years. She has a record that can be followed and seen in plain view. We know who she is. We know that she is a hard worker and a smart fighter who will never give up. And we have a pretty good idea of what she would do as president. Perhaps most importantly though, we know that she wins vital states that have proven to be essential to winning the WH.

“… coupled with the growing list of gaffes, the Great Lakes in Oregon, needing more Arabic translators in Afghanistan, his campaign in 57 states, Kentucky being closer to Arkansas than Illinois, his future meeting with the President of Canada and yesterday, his speech of Sen Kennedy in the past tense is too reminiscent of the current White House occupant. It's beginning to look like we are being hoodwinked and bamboozled. Again.” -- From a reader’s comment on Kristin’s article above.

“Can we conclude from this that it has been policy for Mr. Obama to NOT rein in his supporters and bloggers previously? Can we conclude that even with his own very optimistic figures, Mr. Obama realizes he needs some if not all of the Clinton 17 MILLION VOTES? Does this make anyone else feel as if they cannot vote for this person? After all, some of his supporters indulged themselves—without a word of protest from Mr. Obama until NOW—with bashing Hillary, and bashing women, the older votes, lunch bucket Dems, the Appalachians, and Latinos over and over again. Many of us were taunted for being our selves—actually BEING women or older or carrying lunch buckets, etc., etc.—as if there is something WRONG with us because we ARE women or older or lunch bucket workers or from certain areas or of certain heritage. We were personally attacked. And Mr. Obama knew it.”

Solidarity Sunday (by garychapelhill at The Confluence)
We have been talking a lot lately about the “sweetie” commenters that will try to butter us up and convince us that we must “take them back”. Most women have been through this before… Women have far too many times acquiesced to further the goals of men… Many women opposed the 15th amendment which gave black men the right to vote because it didn’t include women, but in the end many deferred… Feminists in the ’60’s allied with men to end the Vietnam War, only to have the men abandon them once their goal was accomplished. See, the war did end, but afterward when women wanted to pass the ERA, support from a lot of those men evaporated… We all need to stick to our guns. Hillary must be our nominee. Promises and sweet talk will not work this time. These promises, I should add, are more and more resembling threats as they get increasingly desperate. Not going to work. Not this time. We have the power, and we’re going to use it.

There's Something About Barry [BO]...
And his adoring crowd, estimated 75,000 strong. Amazing! Astonishing! Unprecedented! Historical! Mind-boggling! Did you hear??? Barry drew 75,000 fans to his rally!!! Except...as shrewd Lambert of Corrente observes, Kerry did one better in 2004, drawing 80,000 - 100,000 people in Philadelphia -- and we know how well that worked out.

HIT ORDERED ON HILLARY

Many of you have commented on how violent the bloggers for BO have become. Also many now see how the mean-stream media [msm] and so-called Liberal Talk, Air America Radio are in collusion.

When AAR began, it criticized the msm for its myopic, one sided presentation of the news but now they are joined at the hip, with “stars” of both being exchanged to join the celestial chorus for the Precious one, their Messiah, BO.

So anti-Hillary comments are now de rigor on AAR as the various hosts call on her to quit for the good of the party. They are backing up in spirit and fact MSNBC’s Keith Oldermann’s calling for a hit on Senator Hillary Clinton. Yes indeed – birds of a feather flock together, you are known for the company you keep.

Yes, we heard KO’s lame-ass apology, delivered with giggles barely expressed. His body language gave him away with a fake apology just as it did when he said in an angry, punishing tone that most women have heard and cringe at: “Some sort of supercharged super delegate should take her into a room and only he comes out".

Hardly a peep about this from the msm but it was all over the blogs and even in blogs carried by Hillary-hating HuffPost. But just imagine what would have happened if a media personality/news reporter had said: “Some sort of supercharged super delegate should take him and a rope to that big tree over there and only the super delegate comes back.”

Not to be outdone in proposing violence toward HRC, CNN’s Jack Cafferty said, “Clinton wants to debate Obama in both states, as a means of picking up votes in a race that he currently leads overall. She says that she will debate him any place at any time, adding that it could even be done on the back of a flat-bed truck. He would probably prefer to run over her with a flat-bed truck at this point.”
http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2008/04/28/should-obama-have-accepted-another-debate/

Indeed it is open season on women, even one that is a United States Senator. But any threat against any black gets the whole media upset as they rail around trying to find a Clinton surrogate donkey to pin the tail of racism on.

Did the Rev. have the Wright stuff and is he helping BO? We noticed that with all his “different, not deficient” examples, he never mentioned how men have always, and still do, consider women deficient thus the reason for their claim of superiority.

There is no doubt that Rev. Wright supports the age old male agenda as to what he thinks women are deficient in - external genitalia. Did you notice his posturing and body movement? The kind we’ve all seen exhibited by black males strutting about, disdainful of all others and full of themselves? Did you note his scorn, his arrogance?

Like all the other misogynists, the Rev intentionally left out women when he made his different but not deficient examples, thus slamming not only Hillary but also all women of all color, race, religion, creed. And this is the person BO spent 20 years learning from.

Now BO has “thrown Rev. Wright under the bus”, according to several newscasters. Still, we wonder if he threw his grandmother along with him. This road kill sounds more like political expediency. Just a few weeks ago in a speech on race he said, ”I could no more disown him [Wright] than I could my white grandmother.” Still, we have more of an idea of the person BO is and what he stands for today, next week or next month.

If you’ve been thinking things are getting better for women and have not noticed that women are still paid only 77cents on the dollar, you might check out some local sights. Perhaps you might note the significance of those ornamental bull testicles hanging on the boyz pickup trucks. Does that tell you anything? Or you could turn up the sound and click on:

1920 - 2008 PROGRESS OR PANDERING

The Pennsylvania Primary results threw a scare into the BO campaign and its supporters. Before, callers to talk radio and TV programs warned of “trouble” if the Super delegates chose HRC over BO.

Then the Pennsylvania exit polls showed that more than a third of the supporters of HRC would NOT vote for BO. No threats here, no mob action – just a peaceful protest for good reasons.

But on hearing that, the Obambots went ballistic. There will be terrible repercussions if HRC is the nominee.” “We will leave the Democratic Party!” “Blacks will not vote in the General election” and so on, threat after angry threat.

Their point is that BO must win no matter what happens. Some callers threatened violence and anger permeated the airways. They insist that the coronation go forward.

Women are the majority of Democratic voters and have always been taken for granted. Most support HRC and most will not vote for BO, and they are angry. They differ from BO supporters in that they have reasons for their anger. You won’t hear much of this from the mean-stream media but it is all over the Blogs.

Reason # 1: Topping the list is Florida and Michigan where HRC won a majority in both Primaries. One can argue that the DNC did not allow these delegations to be seated or counted at the coming Convention.

However, Chairman Howard Dean has promised that once the candidate is chosen, he will allow the delegations to be seated and vote – but of course not for the candidate they want to vote for - HRC.

HRC was for a do-over of both Primaries but BO blocked this solution.
He knew that she would win both again and would tie him and he wasn’t about to let this happen.

Reason #2: The collusion of the media and the DNC to derogate HRC and ignore any deficit in BO’s experience and character. This bias also contributed mightily to the huge amount of contributions coming in to his campaign.

Thanks to Blogs that kept slogging out the truth, finally, some real light was shone on BO and he reacted by whining, blaming HRC and using more negative advertising while denying that he was doing this.

He sure had the money for PA and spent $10.63/vote. HRC won 55 to 35% and spent $2.40/vote. Who would you chose to manage the money of your country?

Reason #3: The many pejorative, sexists’ remarks from the media directed at HRC. They come at us all the time and most women feel the sting and unfairness of the continuous slams against our gender. It is directed at us, our gender and it angers us. Just to mention a few:

· Clinton "look[ed] like everyone's first wife standing outside a probate court."
· "[w]hite women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that."
· "a scolding mother, talking down to a child."
· "trying to run away from this tough, kind of bitchy image
· "when [Clinton] comes on television, I involuntarily cross my legs
· "sort of alternately soppy and bitchy.'"
· Then there were the many times it has been said, by pundits to raucous laughter, that if BO took HRC as his running mate, he would need a food taster. They do not say this when commenting on a BO/HRC ticket.

But the final straw was a universal misogynist slap down of women when BO publicly flipped the bird to HRC, urged on by the roars of his supporters.

“The way Hillary has been treated and sexist language affect women deeply and they will write in Hillary on the ballot if she does not get the DNC nomination." – this is a frequent Blog comment.

Much has been written and commented on concerning the high regard and loyalty of BO’s supporters. But now the DNC and media-spawn-of-Cthulhu, will be forced to recognize the regard and devotion of women for HRC and face the consequences of their unfair treatment.

*1920 - The 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, also known as the Susan B. Anthony amendment, grants the right to vote to all U.S. women over 21.

NIPPLEMANIA

Again with a [woman’s] breast fiasco! Enough already! We suffered through the ignominy of the Janet Jackson’s peek-a-boo nipple which tarnished the otherwise pristine purity of a football game.

How dare she interfere with beer and erectile dysfunction commercials? What a horror to dilute the gyrations of nearly naked cheer leaders. What was she thinking putting sex into a male grunting contest?

Well, yes, we did survive it – just barely. Fines for showing such degusting things went up and TV people put in a longer time delay so any naughty thing that turned up could be squelched before it went on air to contaminate the public at large.

Now one of those pesky trouble making females has had the temerity to haul out a breast – that’s right, a breast – in an airplane full of decent people and start to feed her baby.

Of course the flight attendant had to enforce the rules of her male superiors and force the mother to hide this atrocity or leave the plane.

Can you imagine anything so disturbing to the other passengers short of a terrorist threat? Of course not, it surely is akin to someone lighting their shoe on fire.

We are so civilized that our fashion now presents women with overflowing breasts or bras that sculpt them into mounds that are indistinguishable from a nuclear plant control building. Anything breastwise is OK to show, even encouraged, in any amount, except a nipple or a portion thereof.

Stephanie Miller constantly speaks of her “lovely lady lumps”, on Air America Radio. Apparently this is her effort to defuse the male fetish of staring down the front of her dress. Who could really want to look at lumps since they are so intimately associated with breast cancer?

Her effort to educate is wasted as most males just don’t get it. It may be genetic, this nipple thing. They will bare their boy breasts, replete with nipples whenever they wish and allow other males to do the same.

This is despite the fact that in overweight America there are many males with breasts that would fill a double D cup, with nipples that doubtless match the size of their amygdala.

The reason for this breast exposure discrimination, we are told, is to keep women safe from men’s uncontrollable response to jump their bones at the sight of an errant nipple.

This might work as a reason if it weren’t for the fact that women are raped and savaged everyday who are fully covered and obviously not “asking for it”. So there must be another reason or is it obvious?
