PURPLE FINGERS, PURPLE HEARTS

No matter what anyone may think, there is no war in Iraq – that’s an oil takeover; there is no war against terrorists – that’s a global disease. The real and only war is the war of words. A war Americans have been shown to be ill-equipped to fight.

The goal of this word war is to influence and control minds using words that have been shown to be heavy artillery in this contest. They affect many people by turning off any sort of critical mental oversight.

Examples of these words are 9/11, victory, winners, God, patriot, Democracy, life, terrorist, protect, WMD, secure, mushroom cloud and freedom, but there are many others.

Nearly everyone saw the attack and subsequent information on September 11th. They saw pictures of the hijackers who crashed the planes into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and an open field.

They were shown these pictures over and over along with the information that the attack was planned by a Saudi, Osama bin Laden, leader of al Qaeda. Names and nationalities of the hijackers were constantly repeated – most were from Saudi Arabia, but none of them were IRAQI!

Yet by repeating the words terrorist and 9/11 and Iraq in the same context or even sentences, Bush and Cheney convinced otherwise intelligent people that Iraq’s Saddam Hussain was a major force in the leadership of the terrorist who swiped and crashed the planes.

By using words tying Saddam to nuclear bombs and chemical warfare, Bush and Cheney convinced the majority of Americans that the country was in eminent danger unless Iraq was invaded and Saddam removed.

Why do so many Americans fail to critically examine things they hear? Take for example the oft recited claim that “We must fight them there [[raq] so we don’t have to fight them here [America].”

This is just one example of the often apposing, always conflicting messages given to the American people, many of whom hear just the scary part and feel afraid and want to be protected. They do not hear the threat to their freedom and their Constitution.

They see the purple fingers waving in the air in Iraq and hear the Bushie’s words: freedom, democracy, removed evil dictator, victory, we are the greatest etc. So the father-knows-best mantra goes on and on, carefully coloring minds with conflicting and confusing thoughts of fear and pride – blanking out reason and other words.

Other words like Purple Heart, reminding us of the terrible loss of limbs and eyes; the pain and grief of so many. Words that blank out both word and sight of flag draped coffins, preemptive war and the laws to protect the Constitution and the country.

Think carefully. We all have seen the waving purple fingers all over the media and referenced in every Bush speech, but are we ever shown a ceremony where one of our brave Iraqi war veterans was honored for service with a Purple Heart?

Have you ever wondered why?

THE RUNNING OF THE BULL$

Double, double, toil and trouble; Fire, burn; and caldron, bubble. [Macbeth]

The news has become more than ever like the sound of children arguing, complaining, whining and positioning. “You did it!” “No, you did it first!” “I’m telling!” “I’m impeaching!” Circus Smirkus is in town and all the clowns are loose.

From Huffpo:
Kennedy: “This Is Big Brother Run Amok“… Salazar: “This Is That Wake-Up Call“… Feinstein: “Most Significant Thing I Have Heard In My 12 Years”… Lawmakers Demand Probe… Decision To Withhold Story Caused Friction At The Times… Times Defends Decision… Bush Approved Eavesdropping Over Three Dozen Times… ”To Do It Without The Participation Of The Congress And The Courts Is Unwise In The Extreme”… ”I Was Frankly Astonished…My Head Is Spinning”…

Why is everyone so surprised? He’s been a liar and a crook since day one.

Cafferty [CNN]: “Who cares if the Patriot Act get's renewed. Want to abuse our civil liberties- Just do it! Who cares about the Geneva conventions? Want to torture prisoners-Just do it! Who cares about rules concerning the identity of CIA agents? Want to reveal the name of a covert operative? Just do it!
Who cares about whether the intelligence concerning WMD's is accurate. You want to invade Iraq? Just do it. Who cares about qualifications to serve on the nation's highest court. Want to nominate a personal friend with no qualifications? Just do it.And the latest outrage, which I read about in "The New York Times" this morning, who cares about needing a court order to eavesdrop on American citizens. Want to wiretap their phones conversations? Just do it.... What a joke. A very cruel, very sad joke.”
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2005/12/16.html#a6350

It’s the same all over whether you read the news, listen to the news or watch the news. The DC crowd of legislators, lobbyists, talking heads and civil servants are embroiled in another juicy scandal, a dwarf tossing match of presidential proportions.

Republicans are falling back as usual on their mantra of blame for the Clinton Administration; saving the country from terrorism and flexing their war muscles while spreading impotent testosterone showers over all. The same fever has infected the blogs and political lists. Republicans, getting their talking points from Father CinC and RNC, balance between rational response and snarling at the Democratic pests chewing and snapping at their legs.

But best and most entertaining bull of all is watching the Democrat’s grassroots snorting and pawing the ground while flinging the soil of their vulnerability and frustration in all directions as they praise a political hero one minute just to curse her/him the next.

A Dem. legislator criticizes Bush in a strong statement and the list/blog posts support her as a presidential candidate. A Dem senator suggests impeach Bush and the posts cry out, “make him the candidate for president” as they dump on their previous choice nastily.

Another legislator explains that the Repugs control the House and the Dems cannot bring on an impeachment process and the blogs and lists comment, “Coward – just like a Democrat to back down.”

So on the Dem Grassroots go, powerless and futile, bobbing and weaving, chasing a charisma or a mirage in nearly mindless rage at their own impotency brought on mainly by lack of money and power – the twin evils and legal tender of Democracy.

What a darling sight for the Gods of Winter Solstice, Christian Christmas, Jewish Hanukkah, African Kwanza et al. The constant running of the bull$, regarding the Dem candidate du jour, rivals the pain, ignorance and slaughter of Pamplona, Spain’s famous Running.

NEANDERTHAL FOLLIES

We just don’t get it. The system executed Tookie for his past crimes which included murder. There was no credit given by the law for his good deeds following his arrest.

He was tried and convicted; given years of appeals while he reformed himself and influenced young people to stay out of gangs. Admirable on the face of it but when the appeals ran out, so did Tookie. He faced the law and the law won.

Just what are the parameters for punishment? We ask because there’s a guy in this country that is responsible for killing hundreds of thousands of people. Most of them did nothing to him or to his people; he did it just for the joy of conquest, his ego.

True most of these deaths were foreigners, just a couple of thousand or so were Americans, and they all occurred over in some foreign country that pissed off this guy; some kind of towel-heads who weren’t born again Christians.

But the guy did terrible things in his own country too. He waged legal wars against the poor, the elderly, the infirm and the children. He let a whole culture suffer horribly while he dug into the pockets of the rich for more money for his political cronies.

The rich owed him for cutting their taxes to the bone; for allowing them to outsource their products to avoid more tax; for allowing them to send American jobs to other countries where they could exploit people already living in poverty. Payback for the immense profits that accrued from his wars.

And despite a deaf and dumb media, the crimes of this man were so huge and so horrible that an American Jury, the voters, his peers, came to realize how he had lied to them; how he sent their children off to die in a foreign country for his own ego.

So, by several polls, he was tried and found guilty by nearly three-quarters of the country. And yet he still appeals because he claims that the economy is bustling and soon everyone will have victory and 2 or 3 SUV’s. Still many of the jury forgot about his massive crimes because the Constitution is a “god-damned piece of paper”.

And as he goes around the country with lies and more lies, he spreads fear; fear of disease, fear of terror … But their greatest fear is fear of losing, fear of not winning his war, fear that they are losing their macho image, fear of themselves.

He keeps them desperately afraid of thinking,; of expressing the values of their religious beliefs and honoring their historic past. And the guy knows his Neanderthal Americans. He has revved up his propaganda machine to turn the jury once more in his favor – to turn them into fellow conspirators through their own belief in being tough.

Tough trumps everything for the Neanderthal-American who believes that brawn always beats brains. There is a battle going on now between them and Americans who side with logic, reason and reality.

“Toughness defined in a strictly physical way does not always achieve victory. Might does not make right, nor does it always make everything right. And it is not unmanly to say that. Might makes right is the credo of the warrior. But there is simple power in right as might. It is the power of great leaders in religion and politics, from Jesus Christ to Martin Luther King. Throughout history, brave men and women have taken the high moral ground. Only in America today do we dare call them wimps.” http://www.commondreams.org/views05/1211-21.htm

Will the rule of law prevail and cause Americans to defy their Neanderthalic attitudes or will the Erectus people of the 21st. century and their institutions of law finally get off their knees to rise up and do the political equivalent of a Tookie on this guy and his fellow Neanderthals?

MEDIA STILL A’ROVIN’

It should be safe to say that the present Bush administration, led by Rove and the Neo-cons, planned, plotted and started the preemptive war in Iraq. It should be safe and for awhile there it seemed that the media understood this.

Yes, it seemed that they had finally caught up to the facts right in front of their eyes and the mood of the American people. Sure, it was late in coming but it did seem as if they were really trying to report the news instead of what Rove told them to report.

Certainly there is plenty to investigate and write about just from the latest Commission’s report that gave the Bushies low marks for preparedness, telling us that the homeland is not secure even after all these years and dollars.

And the media people must be aware that although there were Democrats who voted to give Bush latitude to fight terrorists that it did not mean they were for the preemptive Iraq war. Also, most of them voted to support the troops that Bush had already committed to Iraq.

Now most all of the Democrats, as well as most people in the country, want and intelligent drawdown of our troops; they want the National Guard back doing its job in its own state and they want attention paid to the many problems here at home.

As clear as this is, many in the media are going after another wild hare. A hare planted by Karl Rove to keep them away from the scent of the Bush debacle in Iraq and how badly it is turning out.

That hare is ludicrous to those who do not blindly go a’Rovin after any and everything that falls from Karl’s lips. That hair would get short shrift from any thinking journalist.

That hair is all over the shows with talking heads who are speculating and lamenting on the fact that all Democrats are not united on how to pull out of Iraq. Whoa! What is that about? The Dems haven’t the majority to change policy and for that matter, THE REPUGS WHO DO ARE NOT IN AGREEMENT EITHER.

The media mavens know that but still blindly parrot Rove who wants everyone to forget what Howard Dean so eloquently frames as he goes all over the country:
"What we see today is very much like what was going in Watergate," Dean said. "It turns out there is a lot of good evidence that President Bush did not tell the truth when he was asking Congress for the power to go to war. The President said last week that Congress saw the same intelligence that he did in making the decision to go to war, and that is flat out wrong. The President withheld some intelligence from the Senate Intelligence Committee. He withheld the report from the CIA that in fact there was no evidence of weapons of mass destruction (in Iraq), that they did not have a nuclear program. They (the White House) selectively gave intelligence to the United States Senate and the United States Congress and got them to give the go ahead to attack these people." http://www.woai.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=C36A87B9-63A0-4CDE-AA91-B41571AFD3AF

Rove hates the damage that the clarity of truth causes so he calls his media palls and puts a wild hairy bug in their ear and they go racing off in all directions yelling and baying on a false scent. Not to be outdone or scooped, the rest of the journalist pack take up the baying with scant idea of what it’s all about.

So now the blame for everything is again placed on the Democrats because they “don’t agree about what to do about Iraqi problems.” Problems they had little to do with creating. And as Rove pushes these buttons on the media, the rest of the Republican chorus weep, wail, cry traitor and generally act like the proverbial fair maiden violated.

And as usual, Lieberman is generally making a stupid ass of himself, securing his place as Bush’s #1 butt boy.
Lieberman yesterday: “It is time for Democrats who distrust President Bush to acknowledge that he will be commander in chief for three more critical years and that in matters of war we undermine presidential credibility at our nation’s peril.” 12/6/05
Murtha today: “Undermining his credibility? What has he said that would give him credibility?” - 12/7/05

Solution for the Democrats and the country: “Declare victory and leave”. So said Senator George Aiken of Vermont when the country faced a similar situation in Vietnam.

ALL THE KING’S HORSES AND…

It seems as if many in the media are working hard at pushing the idea that Humpty Dumpty-Iraq may have hada great fall but like the South he will rise again. The media have been and still are the work horses of the RepubliKing.

Those king’s horses have their job cut out for them because many of the king’s men are doing serious damage to the image of the Bush persona, that is, that he is an honest leader with an honest government.
WayneMadsenReport.com Nov. 28, 2005: STATE BY STATE GOP SCANDAL SCORECARD http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/gopscorecard.htm
The worst criminals of all the media-horses are those that have consistently covered up the many Bush lies about Humpty-Iraq until just recently when the stench got so bad that they couldn’t breath. Suddenly these columnists discovered what Democrats have been saying since the Florida debacle.
Instead of honestly admitting that they had been wrong, they join in the chorus of the “misled”, pretending that they have just discovered what has been going on right under their noses. That they do this with no shame or remorse is worst than criminal, it is contemptuous.
Two of the most consistent loyalist horses to the King are still the Hardball hardhead, Chris Matthews and his girl Friday, Nora O’Donnell, who continue to make comments like this:
MATTHEWS: I like him. Everybody sort of likes the president, except for the real whack-jobs, maybe on the left -- I mean – like him personally. From the November 28 edition of MSNBC's Hardball. As Media Matters for America previously reported, MSNBC chiefWhite House correspondent Norah O'Donnell made a similarlyunsupported statement on the November 27 broadcast of MSNBC's TheChris Matthews Show, claiming that Bush has retained his "authenticity" with the public.
Chris Matthews used variations of the word "brilliant" twice to describe Bush’s Navel Academy speech, while deriding Democratic critics of the Iraq war as "carpers and complainers."
Even worse than the felonious Republican king’s men are Democrat king’s men like Joe Lieberman who continues to support King Bush. It seems we dodged a bullet when the election was stolen in 2000. Old Joe is tighter than a tick with Bush and his world-domination-by-war-policy.
Still the real problem remains as the country is drained of its young women and men; its wealth and its reputation just to keep Humpty-Iraq from falling off the wall. The surfs, the uncommon, common folk want the King to pull our troops out and let Humpty-Iraq stand or fall on its own.
Many of the King’s men, who have escaped scandals, have joined the opposition Democrats in calling for a planned downsizing of troops with a gradual withdrawing of influence. They read the polls and want to be reelected.
The King now is perched shakily on a wall of his own making. He gives lip service to a drawdown but his heart is still into ruling the world and bringing the infidels to Democracy under his dictatorship.
He has lost the support of many of his men and many of his horses. Now his future balance on the White House wall may rest on the fate of Humpty Dumpty-Iraq. But things can quickly change as the King has many media-horses poised to sweep him to safety on the wings of spin.
