“NICE GUYS FINISH LAST”
Love may be better the second time around but presidential campaigns are not. We were Gored once and even though we can all agree he is a smart man with lots of experience, he has no stomach for a ballot fight.
Both Kerry’s and Gore’s campaigns were just one disaster after another as they dithered and dathered and put us to sleep with rhetoric and bombast. And at the end both John and Al lacked the guts to fight for the victory they had won at the polls.
Both gave practically the same excuse - that it would be harmful for the country to prolong the battle. Early on the signs were there as Al turned his back on President Clinton, supposedly to “be his own man” and had to have a consultant to get him dressed.
Kerry tried to emulate Bush’s productive photo-ops and fell flat on his face. His antics were what made the Swift Boater’s lies believable to many in the country. From his bird hunting costume to wind surfing when he should have been campaigning, he projected the playboy image.
Both have shown where their niche lies and done so admirably. We need Al at the forefront of the environmental movement; we need John in the Senate where he is so affective and so at home.
The country has had enough of nice-guy Democratic losers; you know the type women swoon over and far-Left Wingers believe are the Second Coming. The White House is in need of a good housecleaning; along the lines we have seen when Speaker Nancy Pelosi took charge of the House of Representatives.
We need someone who will be “in it to win it”; someone who is smart and tough and who will fight tooth and nail to the end for the last ballot. We need a strong, intelligent, experienced woman to clean up, not only the White House but our hideous reputation in the world today.
We need a woman because she won’t spend her time dressing up in soldier suits and parading on the decks of battle ships playing sailor boy. Most women put their toys away at adulthood while men never do consistently.
Just let the martial music play and there they are urging one bunch of uniformed hulks to kill the other bunch of uniformed hulks without a thought for anything as long as the beer and franks keep coming.
As many writers have noted before us, “the best man for the job of president is a woman”, and we Democrats have a fighter this time – Hillary Rodham Clinton.

ALL ABOUT LIZ
All sorts of reasons are put forth by Democrats concerning why they will not vote for a certain Democratic candidate. Some take their cue from the Republican’s FOX News and Talking Points; others may object to the candidate’s inexperience, color, gender or funding source.
But the most idiotic reason we have heard is that if “another Clinton” is elected that would mean, “Bush, Clinton, Bush, Clinton. Horrors! A dynasty in the making rather than the democracy we aspire to continue.”
When did it happen that a woman taking her husband’s last name when married [as is customary] make her in his image or blood line? Are we still governed by the Book of Ruth? Did the Constitution not get changed to include women as independent human beings instead of their husband’s chattel?

Hillary Rodham Clinton is NOT of the lineage of William Jefferson Clinton any more than any woman is demoted from human stature at marriage or becomes a descendent of their husband.
Women are more, often much more, than the man they marry, yet when they die they are usually identified in the first paragraph of their obituary as, “the wife of…” Have you seen many males ID’d as “the husband of?”
Liz Daley died at the age of 68. She was a life long LIBERAL writ large. She was long active in Vermont politics recently endorsing Peter Welch for Congress.
She often surprised people with her independence and outspokenness. Marcelle Leahy, who had known Liz since high school said, “She was an energy-giver who exemplified New England stamina and Green Mountain gumption. She worked courageously to help other Vermonters struggling against cancer. She helped make Vermont a better place.”
“She was a strong courageous voice for common sense and independence in the Vermont tradition” declared Vermont Governor Douglas.
During the 2004 campaign, Liz put a Howard Dean for President sign in the front yard. She once described herself as “an opinionated LIBERAL with my mother’s big mouth” unable to keep her views to herself.
She was married for 25 years, except for a hiatus of 8 years, to Senator Jim Jeffords, a life-long Republican. Some may remember how he got a gutful of the present government and finished his term as an Independent, voting with the Democrats.
Liz and Jim had two children. Liz chose to raise them in Vermont, not caring for the kind of society she would have been expected to hob knob with in D.C. as the wife of a Republican legislator.
Liz was always her own person – no more a descendent of Jim’s than he was of hers. Vermont has lost a giant.

DEMOCRATS EAT THEIR YOUNG
You don’t have to listen to Fox news and related programs to hear Democratic candidates for president being savaged. Just check out most Democratic Lists and Blogs.
We googled out quite a few internet sites to see how prevalent gnashing their own is because we were gobsmacked when we encountered a particularly disgusting and ignorant offering recently.
We found that no Dem candidate was spared, but the top three, called the front runners, get the most negative attention. It seems that many Dems are incapable of only supporting their own choice but must denigrate other Democratic candidates.
In contrast, aside from a few low key remarks such as commenting on Giuliani’s marriage record, Republicans write positive things about the candidate of their choice and do not trash the others.
John Edwards appeared to have the least ugly things written about him. But there were vile remarks about using his wife’s illness to further his candidacy. In addition, mild disapproval was shown with his attention to his coif – just not the manly thing, ya know.
Barack Obama has his critics that find him inexperienced and pushy. He is faulted for thinking he can replace charm for taking strong political stands; and for stealing his message and funding strategy from former Vermont Governor, Howard Dean.
The most insidious and potentially harmful charges against him backfired on the Democrat who initially presented them to implicate Senator Clinton. However some damage was done to Senator Obama because that Democrat had a connection to his campaign and this stuff gets recycled.
But for shear nastiness, misinformation and ignorance, posts concerning Senator Clinton outweighed the ones against the male candidates. The great majority of them was against her as a woman and contained phrases right out of the late Don Imus Show. HRC was routinely called "evil" and "Satan" by Imus--not in a joking manner. Few if any Democrats protested, instead, many echoed Imus’s sexism and hatred for women on their Lists and Blogs.
Although we found some adult blogs and lists, most seemed populated by juveniles who bombarded any support for Clinton with nasty comments. Overall, pro-Hillary comments were discouraged by this violent response – so much for Democracy!
In this present anti-Imus flap, Imus is attacked for his sexism as well as his racism and we are finally seeing women like NOW President, Kim Gandy on TV. Now if an aroused populace would go after Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Savage, Tucker and all the other hate mongers spreading sexism and racism.
The post that led us to check out more occurrences of Dems eating their own sadly originated from a woman. It exemplifies the reasons why most men were against the idea of women voting – that they weren’t intelligent enough, too flighty, and too emotional to gage a person’s qualifications. Her post instructed on what you, like her, should base your vote, she urged you:
-- to watch Hillary and note that she “still looks self-centered and without empathy”. Whereas, if you meet Obama “you feel you have known him since the beginning of time”. HONOR OUR FOREMOTHERS
Who should women vote for? The answer is: ANYONE THEY WANT TO. But it is important that all women pay homage to the sacrifice of the many women who made the advances of women toward equality possible.
That means that American voters must support Senator Clinton’s run for office by insisting that she be treated as they themselves would want to be treated. Women especially should insist on fairness for the woman who is breaking a barrier for all of us. No special favors requested – just an even playing field.
Women are sexually and religiously humiliated all over the world and in many cases other women condone this or even defend this as “customary”.
We all know that politics manifest as word-wars. It seems permission is given by the electorate to attack one’s political opponent any which way they choose. Truth need not be a factor of an attack.
Nevertheless, Americans still have a modicum of fairness left and it is to this that we appeal. Is it fair that one candidate is slurred because of her gender while another is protected from slurs by our society?
We are all familiar with the highly derogatory words, sexual overtones and phrases used over the eons that derogate women. This has reached a crescendo over the candidacy of Senator Hillary Clinton. The major agenda of these “Swiftboat-like” tactics is to prevent a woman presidency by appealing to the macho with salacious descriptions, lies and innuendo.
The Repug campaign is never alone in their use and abuse. Pundits gleefully jump on board along with Talkers and some Bloggers to incessantly drag any woman through the mud with the tried and true slurs aimed to frighten off possible voters.
It’s not just here that it happens. If you are old enough to remember how former P.M. Margaret Thatcher of Great Britain was chewed up over the years you know how vicious and blatant the sexism can be.
Now imagine that the pundits, media and Blogs went after Barac for his racial characteristics? Hey, don’t scream, it used to be customary! Some very horrible things have been said and believed about Blacks throughout history. These have been given life in films, in books and in present day rap lyrics. It wasn’t right then and it isn’t right now!
Actually, some Bloggers have ventured into the realm of tit for tat – ie, if you are going to play the sexist game, we will play the racist game. But listen to the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the media rushing to scream racism as they ignore and contribute to sexism!
“It’s not the same thing”, they scream in fury, “it’s customary to say these nasty things about women, and it’s customary to use words with a sexual reference that are derogatory and humiliating to women.
Yeah, it’s customary all right. We women hear, see and experience it everyday. Sad to say many of us put up with it thus encouraging even more sexist slurs. Even now there are those women creaming for a blonde whiteboy or a brunette blackboy [oops, can’t say “blackboy”, can we?] instead of standing up for a woman candidate with the courage to stand up for them.
Most of the reasons women have for disliking Senator Clinton comes from the right wing propaganda machine Talking Points [repeated endlessly by the media] that have been feeding lies about her since Bill Clinton ran for president.
Ask yourself, “Why is it that you know Repugs for the liars they are yet find all their propaganda relating to Hillary Clinton is true?” And check out what honorable, honest people like Representative Charlie Rangel, who really know Hillary, have to say.
Our Foremothers fought for the abolition of slavery. Our Foremothers fought for the right of Blacks to vote. As a result of their fight, Black MEN were allowed to vote.
Women kept on fighting until ALL women were given the right to vote. It’s time all women think about the sacrifices made for them by their foremothers and fight for the right for themselves and their daughters to be protected from sexual slurs just as Blacks are protected now from racial slurs.

A PRESIDENTIAL POLL
X- Tubule ran an exhaustive survey of billions of American voters asking them what they were looking for in a woman president and what influenced their opinion. Here are the results in order of magnitude of the first 5.
Wanted – the perfect woman. She must be hot with huge breasts and Lana Turner legs. She must have a body to die for and a brain the size of a pea. Must wear a bikini at her inauguration or be naked.
Opinion was influenced by: TV and how my favorite movie stars look. Also from Hillary hater Tucker and Hard Balls Matthews’ fan clubs because Tuck and Chris constantly put forth this idea of the ideal female Chief Ex.

She must be a looker. No dog, ya know, since we’ll have to see her a lot on TV. Even a stud like ‘W’ got hard to look at after awhile with those beady little eyes and itchy nose sniffing.
Opinion influenced by: Watching those beautiful beasts on the wrestling shows - and all the girly-fluff that surrounds them; NASCAR attitudes; FOX Vixens and most of the Snuff films that pass themselves off as crime shows .

First off, a woman president should be a great cook and she must know how to sew or knit. She’ll be present in a lot of meetings with the men who are running the country and she needs to have something to do while they talk. Also, she should always bring home-cooked snacks for them.

She must be God-fearing, that is she must know her place. She should arrange for daily religious services to be held all over the White House, the Senate and House of Representatives. She must keep the White House spotless and always obey her husband.

X – Tubule pollsters asked the respondents giving replies similar to the first 4 opinions listed above about their Party preference. To their surprise, Party did not appear to influence their choice where a woman president was concerned.
They figured a party was a party so, “Party on, Dude!”

PAY ATTENTION, DEMOCRATS
School is in and the teachers are magnificent! The Repugs have brought all the old, tried and true warhorses out of the barn to counteract the really bad smell emanating from the Bush administration.
The complete control of the media they used to have has slipped, especially since the last election that gave the Democrats the majority – thin though it is. But there is no panic, no whining, and no elephantine stampede of the type Democrats are famous for.
Quite the opposite, in fact. As layer after layer of Bush perfidy over the last six years is peeled back like an onion by responsible media, Repug representatives to Talk and TV put on a show that is not only worth watching, it should be mandatory for Democratic pols & pundits.
Looking even younger than she did six years ago when she was assaulting the Clinton administration, Mona Charin is back in town. We’ve aged and so have other pundits seen on TV, but not Mona.
She is still the master of creating white out of black, good out of bad and peace out of chaos without once losing a smile that is so baked-in that her face appears to be carved out of granite.
When challenged on the Lou Dobbs program, concerning the outing of Valerie Plame, she turned nary a hair in asserting that Plame had outed herself and besides, she never was a covert agent.
The other panelists raised their eyebrows in surprise. Hadn’t Mona heard Plame testify to her covert status under oath before Congress just recently? She had, but obviously Plame was lying.
Didn’t Mona follow the Scooter Libby trial and hear all the testimony? She had, but obviously all those testifying were lying. Didn’t she see all the e-mails that showed the scandal in the Attorney General’s Office? She had, but they had all been misrepresented. According to Mona, the Bush administration is still pure as the driven snow.
Mona is a master in the art of deception who makes the lies of the Repub talking points appear believable even against one’s better judgment. The danger is that the Repugs have closed ranks, brought back the big guns and have already shown that even in the minority they can defeat Dems legislative agendas.
Chris Matthews, the ultimate flip-flopper, who just finished several days criticizing Bush for the A.G. scandal, turned on a dime in one day pouring out admiration for Bush’s refusal to allow Rove and Miers to testify under oath. Chris actually gushed in admiration, calling Bush, a Tiger.
The Bush agenda: Deny every accusation; lie with conviction; smile decisively and make it appear that the Dems are lying bullies intent on turning America over to the terrorists and the gays.
So Dems, go to school on Mona and her ilk, reinforce your spine and learn how to take back your pride and professionalism. Do we want you to speak and act with absolute certainty, conviction and commitment? Do we mean you should get down and dirty like the Repugs?
HELL, YES!

JUST LIKE THE BUNNY
Our long national nightmare keeps going… and going… and going… - Or surging… surging… surging… if you prefer. Nearly two more years of Bush-unbound may signal the beginning of the end of Democracy in this country.
Already he has made a good start in nullifying many of the safeguards of the Constitution. He has done all this in the name of protecting us from terrorists. He has done this with our permission because of our terror.
Since Americans are terrified of losing their cars, TV’s, Blackberrys and all the other wonders of our technology, they have willingly let their freedom be vandalized.
And even now as the early presidential Primary takes a running start, it seems many Americans care little for a candidate’s qualifications for the job of president or are curious about their past records or their present inner circle.
We need a leader that knows how to clean house, not just one who will bring the garbage to the curb. We need one who has world contacts and governing experience – we elected a pretty boy last time – you remember, the one you wanted to sit down and have a beer with, George Bush?
Its déjà vu all over again as many empty heads salivate over some Mr. Mc Dreamy, who is cute, tells them the most lies about the country and themselves and they’d like to sit down and have a beer with.
One of GenderGapper’s subscribers writes us, in an exceptionally reasonable tone, that opposition to abortion is not about religion, it is about breaking the law. He claimed that raped women who have abortions have killed, and the government should treat them with the death penalty just as it does with other murderers.
He also contended that pedophiles who kill the children they assault should not be treated like murderers – they should be treated and released.
Violence against women is at an all time high. It is everywhere in political punditry, blogs and dark comedy. Just a few years ago, Liberals/Progressives had their first nation-wide talk radio – Air America Radio.
Now many of its stations have left and all over the country there are people whose only choice for political information is a plethora of right wing scandal mongers intent on feeding misinformation about candidates.
Streaming AAR programs seldom works for dial-ups and pods are too expensive. Are the Democrats doing this to hasten their own demise or don’t they care about taking this country back anymore?
All the TV channels have advocates, in the guise of journalist, for their favorite candidate. FOX blatantly touts the Republicans, but there is no TVaccess that does the same for Democrats.
The way things are going we’ll all be in deep do-do because of our fears and inaction so when the terrorist do come they’ll only have to bring shovels to clean up our mess.

THEY STILL DON’T GET IT
There is a play written by Jane Martin in 1993 called “Keely and Du”. It comes close to being fair to both sides of the abortion debate. The major characters are a young woman, Keely, who is seeking an abortion after being raped by her husband and Du, an older woman.
Du along with another anti-abortion extremist, a male minister, kidnaps Keely when she was on the way to terminate her pregnancy. Here we have the classic confrontation of free will and religion.
Legally, Keely has the right to have an abortion; but the minister and Du have the power to stop her by chaining her to a bed in a basement. Here most of the action is played out with Du watching over a very angry Keely.
The minister, who of course feels he has all the rights on his side due to his gender - being made in the image of God and his vocation as God’s representative on earth - at first calmly exhorts Keely.
She remains intractable and over the days and nights this angers the man to the point that he raves like the anti-abortion screamers that flock outside women’s clinics. Even Du finds him ridiculous and tells Keely that, “He is with God but he is insufferable about it.”
As the women spend more time together, they develop a friendship. They understand that they have much in common and, as women, can find amusement in the foibles of the raving minister.
Things do not end well in this play. How could they? Religion as always divides people, bringing hatred by the powerful and resentment by the weak. However males usually find what they think is a solution for the abortion debate in the play.
Because Keely and Du seemingly come to like and understand each other, mostly male reviewers of the play think that putting the two sides in one room together, just to talk quietly would bring a solution.
One such reviewer based this on Roe versus Wade suggest opposition [versus], whereas Keely and Du brings a word [and] of inclusion and togetherness and hope. He disregarded the 500 pound gorilla in the room – men’s religion which enslaves womankind.
But one real point of the play is to show that captivity and force of one gender by another just has no saving grace. Males cannot be raped and impregnated by a stronger, privileged gender and forced to continue a pregnancy because of the stronger, privileged gender’s religion.
They still don’t get it when they think religion and freedom can sit down in a room together and compromise. They never will as long as women’s bodies are owned by the state.

How we used to long for the days when we could turn on the radio and get a LIBERAL TALK SHOW. Then came Air America and for some time it was great to hear all the voices speaking truth to power.
Sadly for us in the North Country, Liberal talk was deemed no longer necessary and was not supported, except for a low powered, mostly unmanned WTWK, giving us a few hours on weekdays of some old favorites [with the exception of Rachel Maddow].
In the last year, The Young Turks have been featured and have taken over most of the morning time. Following the exit of Al Franken, we lucked out by getting everyone’s favorite History Professor, Thom Hartmann for afternoons.
The Turks program features three people: two men and a woman – Cenk Uygur, Ben Mankiewicz and Jill Pike. The men talk all the time with a sentence or two allowed the one woman whom they usually present or characterize as drugged, hung over or a certified airhead.
This characterization gives you an idea of what they think of women generally and Jill usually cooperates by showing them to be correct in their evaluation of women’s intelligence and ability.
However, they do present the usual fare of criticizing the Republics, the Conservative Talk shows and the Congress with its failure to do anything about bringing home the troops. They urge that all Dem groups cooperate to elect a Democrat as president.
Unfortunately, they also feature the very things they criticize the Conservs for – one sided, unproven, unfair accusations and reports of our Democratic candidates.
They bring in the usual, mostly male reporters, bloggers, politicians and authors to give their opinions. Their guests most usually have positive or supportive things to say about the male candidates for president and the Turks themselves often state their own male preference.
So far, their choice of guest has not included even one person that has positive things to say about the one woman running or is one of her supporters. And the Turk loud talker, who apparently suffers from hormonal imbalances, is not shy about iterating and reiterating his hatred of the woman candidate.
He, like many of their guests, faithfully parrot the dirt and lies fed the media by the Right Wing all during the Clinton years. They even use the exact terms and sentences.
Who needs Liberal Talk when we can turn back the pages and read what the Conservative polls, pundits, authors and anyone that hates had to say about Hillary?
We don’t expect that they should not present their opinions but we do expect a Liberal Talk group to be fair. Right now, the loudest Turk is screaming about how Dems must stick together and support their candidates. Quick! Someone get the guy a Midol.
Oh for the clarity and fairness of Rachel once again.

ONE BLOODY CRIMINAL PUNDOCRACY
Yeah! That’s right; the pundits are running and ruining this country. There are still too many people who listen to them and think they are reporting facts; that they know more than we do.
They puntificat, they bloviate, they yell over anyone who may disagree with them. They claim to be the most authentic, the most learned and the most trusted of anyone alive who shovels shit on our air and cyberways.
For the most part they consider that they are smarter than anyone else and TV uses them for entertaining the masses – that means you and me. But their entertainment is toxic to a free democratic society. It corrupts the truth, making us fear to trust our own judgment.
They jump on anything a politician or candidate may say or do, tearing the words out of context or confusing the actions. One of their favorite gambits is to insist that the person they are targeting apologize.
They want the person to admit to any “mistake” they accuse them of making, and act like a puppy worrying a slipper as they constantly bring up this malfeasance they have discovered. They are the avenging angels, beating their ink-soaked wings against the citadels of power.
It’s all a sham. If any group or person should apologize for wrong doing or saying it is the pundits, whether on the radio, in the blogs or steaming up your TV set.
Have you ever heard anyone of them apologize for the masses of misinformation they gave you; the very misinformation they are now saying is wrong? No politician has ever flip-flopped the way these pundits do every day.
Remember all the positive and supportive crap they shoveled your way about Bush’s preemptive war in Iraq? Did you ever hear even the hint of one saying they were wrong?
And now as some of them are actually reporting what was obvious for years, they still soft pedal anything that might reflect badly on the Bush administration.
Remember the hullabaloo they raised along with the Repugs when the Dems in the minority tried to filibuster. They made it seem like a crime against the nation. Now that the Repugs are filibustering, they treat it as if it were their Constitutional right.
Now they are picking your next president as they tout what they say is so good about their favorite and constantly criticize any Dem that has a chance to win.
They certainly should apologize for their brainwashing and previous crimes and we should let them know it.

RISING STARS CAN ALSO GO SPLATT
Senator Obama’s long awaited announcement finally came to pass last Saturday. It had been scheduled for the day before, Friday, but the blanket coverage by the media of the death of Anna Nicole Smith didn’t leave a single camera free to cover his event.
It sort of reminded us of Governor Dean’s announcement in Burlington, Vermont nearly four years ago except that Dean didn’t equate himself with any past presidential icon or parade his ethnicity. But the hoopla and the crowds with store bought and home made banners and signs were the same.
Both were given the rave reviews of “Rock Star”, attracting huge, adoring crowds; both kissed and introduced their families; both tastefully thanked the crowd for their good taste in candidates.
Both established home town roots with all the accolades given them by said home town. Both were striking, energetic, testosterone charged figures who obviously wanted to be top banana.
Both loudly proclaimed that they had been against the Iraq war from the beginning; both neglected to state that they were not in Congress when the vote came up so they did not have to make that choice.
Both emphasized how the people were key in making a new America. Both claimed to be a “fresh face”, unspoiled by Washington ways and politics.
“You have the power”, thundered Dean. “All of you must work together with me to make changes in our government”.
Obama called himself the transformer and with the help of the people he would transform the way America is governed. “The ways of Washington must change.”
There were disturbing incidences in Howard’s presentation. Some obvious, like the negative signs; others were recollections of things charged by recent press releases from the opposition – aptly named, baggage, from his years as Governor.
Barac’s staff set the stage to illicit the historic ghost of Abraham Lincoln, with ample architectural references to his presidency as the Great Emancipator.
Barac, himself, reflected Lincoln in attire and form as well as within his speech. He compared himself as “lanky” and invoked other references to Lincoln that were favorable comparisons.
All this was good political stagecraft to promote his appeal to the patriotism of the elderly voter and ethic minorities. No foul in leading with one’s strength.
But he should have omited the bits that made many of us wince, as he lapsed into a style we associate with pastors in both Black and White American Christian churches. He can prove he is “A Christian” in other, less intrusive, ways. We’ve all had enough of God running the White House – now we yearn for an intelligent leader.

BRAINWASHED HYPOCRISY
The candy assed wimpy wimps aren’t all on the Repug side; for shear hypocrisy check out nearly every Democrat list or blog and read what those who think themselves strong liberated women write.
But first, think back to what they were writing, and still write about how spineless and cowardly the Dems in Congress have been. Day after day they posted derisive comments about the do-nothing minority Democratic Congress members who were scared to fend off the Repugs.
Now these same critics don’t have the guts or intelligence to be open minded enough to consider a woman president. It seems that for many women, if it hasn’t got male genitals it cannot be adequate for the office – they need a daddy/hubby figure to gush on about.
How they rave about a “Big Al” or a “Senator Dreamboat” as they deride another candidate for being too short. They aren’t considering a leader for their country’s and their children’s future. They are fantasying a sexual object.
They never consider that a man would be influenced by his wife yet they condemn Senator Clinton outright and claim that if she were elected it would be because people would think former President Clinton would be running things and telling her what to do.
These same detractors would have a bird if someone defined them as being a puppet spouting whatever their husband’s viewpoints were. They are airheads like that senator who, following the S of the U speech, grabbed Bush and wouldn’t let him go until he kissed her.
And when they do mention Senator Clinton, it is only to parrot the lies and innuendos that Repugs have been spouting for years. They don’t know these to be facts but rather than discover the truth of things, they happily coat the Senator with Repug crud. Many sound worse than Dick Morris or the openly Repug hate Hillary blogs.
It might be really hard but it would be worth it if these Democratic women would open their minds and discover the qualifications of the Senator as well as those of others running for the nomination.
And keep this open mind throughout the Primary season. Pick a presidential candidate, not a lover-boy – you’re not 12 anymore; act your age and act like a mature, intelligent person worthy of being called a woman.
Or just keep on as you have been doing with your head up your vagina making metaphorical goo-goo eyes at the males with your childish posts to your Democratic lists and blogs. But if you truly want a change in your government from the Bush mentality, grow up.

CHICK,SI; WATERMELON, NO
For some time now the brainless talking heads have filled the airways with useless speculation. Will she run or won’t she? If she does she has too much baggage to win. If she doesn’t she’s gutless and won’t face up to the rigors of reporter’s questions.
They just can’t wait to sink their teeth into the political substance of Senator Hillary Clinton, biting and snarling and tearing off great chucks of non relevance. They gleefully declare that the media’s function is to ask the hard questions so the voting public can make the best decision for ’08. Ah, yes, the media as watchdog of American politics, yeah, right!
It would be fracking funny if the media hadn’t been poodling up to Bush for the last 6 years ignoring his lies and never asking the tough questions to anyone in the administration. Even worse, this same media has not given access to the opposition Party and the people they represent.
Now they are lining up, panting with ill-concealed glee, in a frenzy of being the first to dish some dirt or ask the nastiest questions so that other s of their ilk can rephrase and twist her answers in the most diabolic ways. All the time claiming this total media Swift Boating of Senator Clinton is in the name of public service.
The basis of this non-heroic melee is men’s most basic fear of women in power. Ask any woman who has been beaten up and they will tell you they showed their attacker a bit of strength, a bit of intelligence, a smidgen of courage and WHAM! Instant, uncontrollable anger.
In the coming days and months and years you will hear how a woman cannot be Commander-In-Chief; just not emotionally stable enough to push the nuclear button or send troops into combat.
Already, Chris Matthews, who vowed at the beginning of his Hard Ball spiel that he was going to be fair-minded [HA!], decided that she had lied when she claimed that she had planned to announce just before the S of U speech.
Then he endeavored to get all of his guests to agree that she did it because Senator Obama was getting so much media time. Kudoes to Jon Alter who pointed out that by announcing when she did, just before the weekend, got her a political coup. She got all the media attention with her brilliant tactics. And also kudos to Keith Olbermann who every evening takes the measure of Matthews and exposes his deceitfulness.
Of course the old chestnut was brought out that Hillary might win the Dem nomination but she could never carry the country. Newspapers and commentators spoke of New Mexico’s Governor Richardson as “throwing his sombrero into the ring” and there were several references to both the new Speaker and Senator Clinton as chicks.
Betcha there won’t be any watermelon jokes.

BLACKMAIL BY BUSH
Wake up and smell the cordite, America! You are being blackmailed into supporting continuous wars for the Bush plan to dominate the world’s oil. First because Congress will not leave our troops without support and next because you think winning is all important.
That’s right; it seems to be all about winning and the Bush administration is counting on the sports ethic saturated populace to support them even as it claims to be reluctant to support continuous wars.
Yes, America. Bush and company have you by your short hairs and will send your children into battle and certain injuries or death to appease the oil cartel. Push has become surge has become augmentation has become… a word change but not a policy change.
And do you remember an incident called Katrina? Or that Senator Joe Lieberman promised that if he were reelected and became chair of the Homeland Security committee that he would investigate the actions of the administration?
Well now he is the chair but he has refused to investigate a situation that cries out in the name of humanity for investigation and solutions. He holds the Democratic majority in the Senate hostage as he toadies to Bush’s every wish. Blackmail by Lieberman.
If the Democrats kick him out of this chairmanship, doubtless he would change his allegiance and caucus with the Republicans further hamstringing the efforts to find solutions to the ignored devastations caused by Katrina and the ever accelerating wars.
And how do the media handle this? Typically, it fixates on making Bush look good and avoiding commenting on his lies and past escalations. Lots of comments on how bravely he stood alone, praising his “steadfastness” and his choice of necktie.

PLUTOED
Last year produced a new word, well several in fact, but we refer to pluto. When the planetary peeps demoted Pluto and it became just another rock circling the sun, it produced an emotional reaction in the general public. We hope to tie into that.
Now the word pluto has come to mean “to demote or devalue someone or something”. Of course for many of us it will always be the name of that hunk of rock and also the name of a loveable pooch.
As this word finds its way into more and more speech patterns, it seems that at the top of the list must be, “America used to be a country admired for its values and its people but now it is plutoed.”
The questions that must be answered: are the oil fields of Iraq worth it and will newly elected Democrats go along with Bush to preserve them? Of course, Congress cannot pull out the troops even if they wanted to but they can cut the funds and face media, Republican and WH charges that they abandoned our service men and women.
In addition, it is a certainty that the Civil War in Iraq would continue and that mayhem would be laid at the feet of the newly elected Democratic majority.
Whatever then is to be done? The answer lies not in our congress, president or media, but in our selves – to paraphrase Shakespeare. If the American people want to withdraw our forces then they must speak up.
Sure, this will take time away from TV and all the sports, reality shows, soaps and other avoidance therapy but it would be well worth it. We must confront the media head on. Surely we all have seen how political talkers like Chris Matthews on Hard Ball are suddenly saying what we all have known for ages, but never admitting that he was kissing Bush’s patootie for the last six years.
Confront them – sending them more money won’t do it. These same people are also still chewing away at the Democrats even though they never used to criticize the bush boys when they were the majority. This must stop and it will stop if we the people harass their asses off.
Constant and never ending phone calls, letters, e-mails to their advertisers and boycott of those sponsor’s products will get their attention fast. Then the barrage should be directed at all the media, the president and the Congress.
It’s bloody well time they learned who is in charge here. We’ve let them pluto us long enough.

FORD VALUES TRUMP SHOCK AND AWE
What a surprise it was to see Cheney giving a eulogy at President Ford’s Lying-in-State. Gone was the menacing Darth Vader glare and tone. Instead, he sounded almost human. But the platitudes of praise bubbling from his lips were weirdly strange since he himself embodied none of them.
None of the genuineness of Ford had rubbed off on Cheney from the days when he worked so closely with that President; instead it seems he is only able to imitate them at times. The V. P. can recognize honesty, integrity, truth telling and love of country but he cannot emulate it.
Listening to Republicans on FOX News and other channels, one could hear the difficulty they had in lauding a man who was everything they were not. It must have hurt them to praise a fellow Republican who was even more of a Democrat/Liberal than those who call themselves that today.
Fortunately for the country, most of the news media were finally up to the challenge of reporting history instead of regurgitating the offal from the Oval Office. Especially appreciated was the insight of historians who placed the term of President Ford in historical prospective instead of just noting that he pardoned Nixon and stumbled sometimes.
However it was what we observed during the ceremonies involved in bringing the late president’s body to the Capital Rotunda that made us compare his values to those of Bush.
Bush was missing – not willing to leave his vacation in Crawford, perhaps? We think there was more to it. He should have been there to welcome the Ford family and tender his personal condolences on behalf of the nation, even if he didn’t attend the ceremony.
We think he just feared to be on the same stage with an honest man and may also have been miffed because it was publicly revealed that Ford strongly disapproved of the Iraq war.
A media that has only recently found its cajones would not fail to make odious comparisons to an attentive national audience, such as: Ford lived his values – he was dedicated to his family and the Constitution while Bush only gives his values lip service.
Bush opted instead for the limited exposure and comparison that a next day eulogy in the Washington Cathedral would afford, with his father and the other former presidents in the congregation.
Another strange absence was Rummy, who reportedly was very close friends with Ford. There were indications that this friendship had cooled since Ford quite obviously was highly critical of his war activities, including Abu Ghraib, resulting in so many loss of lives.
Prevented from coming by the weather? We think not. The former war chief would have no problem getting transportation laid on especially for him by the military units in the area.
And finally, despite the sweet words that slizzered out of Cheney’s mouth, their friendship had lessened for similar reasons. President Ford was never reticent in letting people know what was on his mind.
Then there was the reaction of the Ford children who coolly acknowledged Cheney but we saw no evidence that he was the long time family friend he pretended to be. They also snubbed Bush.
Actions and body language speak louder than words just as forgiveness trumps shock and awe.

None of the genuineness of Ford had rubbed off on Cheney from the days when he worked so closely with that President; instead it seems he is only able to imitate them at times. The V. P. can recognize honesty, integrity, truth telling and love of country but he cannot emulate it.
Listening to Republicans on FOX News and other channels, one could hear the difficulty they had in lauding a man who was everything they were not. It must have hurt them to praise a fellow Republican who was even more of a Democrat/Liberal than those who call themselves that today.

LAURA’S WAR
What a delightful interview Katie had with Laura. One cannot help but listen intently when the first lady of TV news speaks with the first lady of the country.
When asked about the conditions in Iraq, Laura, ever so sweetly proclaimed that it was just that the photographers were only taking pictures of the horrible stuff. Really most everything was just peachy- keen there.
The country was being rebuilt under her husband’s direction. Schools and streets and homes were filled with happy, smiling Iraqi grateful to Bush for saving them from the terrible dictator.
We wondered about the women of Iraq. Did Laura have any idea of what her dear hubby had done to them? Before Saddam had been overthrown, women were encouraged to study, have a profession and work outside of the home. They could drive; they could choose whether or not to cover their body with a black abaya and their head with a black scarf.
Iraq was one of the most progressive Middle East countries in its treatment of women. Saddam advocated women’s full participation in the culture. Now Iraqi women say life has become unbearable. It is “just like being in jail, I can’t go anywhere”.
They believed Bush when he declared that increasing women’s rights was part of the democracy being created in Iraq. It made them hopeful of greater equality with men.
But have we been misled by the reports from Iraq? Are the many stories about women’s loss of equality and personal peril just figments of some scribe’s imagination?
If things are truly so fine in Iraq as Laura believes, wouldn’t it be just ducky if she and her two daughters would go there to lead the women of Iraq into the light that has been denied them?
Laura could open or supervise schools for women all over the country. The Bush daughters would roam the countryside as examples of the equality of women in a democracy, thus giving hope to the entire nation.
Of course those nasty photographers would have to be banished so there would not be any more killings or beatings or bombings, but that could be managed by presidential edict or a signing statement.
And wouldn’t that be a super Winter Solstice present for every living thing on our planet?

LEXIS CRAPSIS
For days the media has buzzed with the aftermath of a popular comedian losing it; his shouting and cursing at members of his audience was too common to be noticed, but he was lambasted because he used the n-word.
Ever hear any rap? The n-word that is prohibited from being said in public runs rampant in this music. African American comics belt it out constantly. It seems it’s not wrong to say the word; the wrongness comes from who says it.
This is nuts! If the word is so hurtful and harmful to a minority group then why do many Blacks use it among themselves, seemingly without censure? If the word wasn’t heard so often perhaps then it would not come so readily to those who should not say it.
Likewise we agree that complaining about the use of the word bitch and all the other words used to denigrate women has done little good. In fact, many times the worst offenders are women themselves. BUT, there is no derogatory word used against women, needing a letter to be expressed, that is not acceptable in this male controlled society.
When have you heard someone say “s-word”, the “b-word” etc? No, and you won’t. Sitcom characters routinely refer to women using these offensive words. Racism = NO NO; sexism = OK. We hear them on TV talk shows where Tucker Carlson actually encourages his guests to use them. We almost expect it on the Radio Shock talk programs. Blogs reek of repulsive terms for women.
If not the disgusting words, there is always the nastiness such as these comments by Rush Limbaugh and Joe Scarborough.
My "cat's taught me more about women, than anything my whole life” …she "comes to me when she wants to be fed," and "she's smart enough to know she can't feed herself. She's actually [a] very smart cat. She gets loved. She gets adoration. She gets petted. She gets fed. And she doesn't have to do anything for it." - Rush Limbaugh
Joe Scarborough said, "[W]e're getting so much politics on The View. Shouldn't this be a program at this time of the year about how to make Christmas balls out ofpopcorn and pine cones?" Media editor Rachel Sklar replied to Scarborough's statement by saying, "I'm just going to forget you said that," Scarborough added, "[I]t is a dayside show for women ... come on."
This selective word-crap presents an interesting problem in the coming presidential elections as a white female and a black male are expected to run for that office along with a multitude of white males. We can be sure that neither Senator Clinton nor Senator Obama will use such words or letters against each other but the media, led by Huffington and Tucker will excoriate Senator Clinton.
Even the most sedate newscasts will resort to innuendo and frat boy jokes about Senator Clinton and women in general. Then they will eagerly watch for some really gross stuff from other sources to quote in their programs. A favorite game – “we didn’t say it, they did”.
But rest assured there will be no use of either the f-word or black culture innuendo used against Senator Obama. And there shouldn’t be. There shouldn’t be similar word-crap used against women either. #
